Rapidly spreading Nifah virus learn its symptoms and prevention measures

In Kozhikode of Kerala, the government has declared a high alert due to an unknown infection. It is found that these mysterious deaths are being caused by the attack of 'Nifa virus' (NiV), due to which eight people have lost their lives. On Sunday, the National Institute of Virology, Pune confirmed the presence of Nifa virus in three samples.

Nifty virus infection can spread like a pandemic any time. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nifa virus (NIV) is a new emerging disease that causes serious illness in both animals and humans. Nifa virus is also called 'Nifa virus encephalitis'.
Signs of Nifa Virus (NiV)?
The nifa virus in humans is associated with encephalitis, which causes swelling in the brain. Symptoms include fever, headache, dizziness, mental confusion, coma and death at the end. If symptoms increase in 24-28 hours, then humans may have to go to coma. In some cases the patient may also have to face the respiratory problem.
Cure Nifa Virus?
In humans, the only way to cure nifa virus is to take proper care. The medicine called ribavirin has proved effective against the virus. However, clinical efficacy of ribavirin is uncertain in human tests so far. Unfortunately, there is no specific HIV treatment or vaccine for humans or animals.

How to Avoid Nifty Virus Infection?
This virus spreads from one person to another. To prevent this, keep distance from the infected patient. Health care workers should take appropriate precautions while taking care of infected patients or handling and sampling laboratory samples in order to avoid Nifa virus in the hospital.
