Opening up and repairing my broken virtual reality hand controller... with sellotape.

Well done that man! Any time you can repair something yourself is an achievement. A lot of modern tech can be fragile and is not designed to be fixed. I expect this was not that cheap.

It would have voided my warranty, if it weren't for the fact that it's over 3 years old and long outside of the 12 month window I had.

It wasn't too bad, the only trouble was that they used small T5 Torx screws which are not very mainstream so I had to buy a screwdriver kit for that, and they were deep in a crevasse that made it hard to unscrew them. That took a while to get past. But it's far away from the Apples of this world making devices deliberately extremely difficult to fix.

Yes, it would have been quite expensive to replace. One controller goes for $120 new.

I hate things with proprietary screws and some things have subtle clips in the case. I often find I have to gently force cases open to see where they pop. Sometimes it works out.
