The Decentraland Community Vision Program

With the Decentraland token sale less than a month away the Decentraland team has released the Decentraland Community Vision Program (I will refer to it as the DCVP). The DCVP is a way for people to share their ideas and content for Decentraland and be rewarded for their efforts. This is done by making a proposal on the Decentraland GitHub proposals page.

There are two tiers of proposal.
Tier 1 is a way of showing off things that you have already created. A Tier 1 proposal requires a model that is able to be published to a tile currently which means that it has been made in Unity using only primitive shapes example here. The reward for a Tier 1 proposal is 1000 MANA which is enough to claim 1 tile of LAND.

Tier 2 is for sharing your big idea for Decentraland, such as a cinema, casino, zoo, theme park or something bigger, like a plan for better infrastructure. Tier 2 proposals require a detailed description of the product and its use cases. Pictures also help. The reward for a Tier 2 proposal is 5000 MANA which is enough to claim 5 tiles of LAND.

One great example of an already submitted proposal is Prilink’s City Planning (After posting this, the proposal has been temporarily taken down, so hopefully I explain it well enough). Her idea is to make the layout of Decentraland better structured and interesting by forcing roads and creating shapes other than squares. She incorporates many images in her post: some her own; some not, and the description is well written, incorporating formal language.

The DCVP is vital to Decentralands success as user generated content is what will make Decentraland interesting. Without any user created content it would just be an empty grid. This program will also incentivise professionals such as architects, urban designers, artists, game developers, teachers and businessmen to explore the possibilities of Decentraland and take it to the next level.
