Monterrey (Speaker Icon.svg escuchar) es una ciudad mexicana, capital y ciudad más poblada del estado de Nuevo León. En 2015 agrupó un total de 1 415 512 habitantes, siendo la tercera ciudad más poblada de México, así como cabecera de la Zona Metropolitana de Monterrey, que agrupa un total de 5,15 millones de habitantes en 2015 por lo que es considerada como la tercera área metropolitana más poblada del país[7] solo después de la Ciudad de México y Guadalajara, y la segunda en extensión territorial con 923.6 kilómetros cuadrados. Se encuentra a 913 km de la capital del país la Ciudad de México.[8]
