The levee’s failure could cut the island in two, damage dozens of buildings and businesses and cause widespread flooding, said Camardelle.

Interesting article about the ongoing battle to save Grand Isle from the frequent storms that it gets hit by. I'm not sure what the answer is but what they are doing isn't it. Ever storm that hits the area is a major worry, clearly mother nature doesn't want that island there they way it is. A long time ago the area was fed by part of the Mississippi River with its sediment building the island back up after each storm. Humans changed the course of the River thus the problem we have now. The way it is now, it's just a giant money hole......
