As competition among top smartphone manufacturers gets stiffer, Chinese handset maker Vivo on Friday opened its maiden offline Experience Centre in Bengaluru in the presence of Kannada actress Sruthi Hariharan.

Spread across 3,600 square feet, the Experience Centre features retail community zones where prospective buyers can access the entire range of Y and V-Series of Vivo smartphones.

"The launch of our first 'Experience Centre' in India is for customers to experience our products before making a purchase decision. We will be launching additional 'Experience Centres' across key markets in the country in the coming months," said Kenny Zeng, Chief Marketing Officer, Vivo India, in a statement.

The company currently has 80,000 retail stores across the country, including Vivo exclusive stores.

Vivo’s last smartphone launch in India was the Vivo V7+, which was launched in September. Priced at Rs. 21,990, the selfie-focused smartphone sports a 24-megapixel front camera complete with a soft ‘Moonlight Glow’ front light. It also bears a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. On the rear, the smartphone features a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash.

The same month, Vivo launched two new smartphones in China – the Vivo X20 and X20 Plus. The Vivo X20 and X20 Plus smartphones feature Full View displays with taller-than-usual aspect ratio of 18:9 and dual camera setup at the back. The notable difference between the two variants is in the screen size and the battery capacity. The Vivo X20 has been priced by the company at CNY 2,998 (roughly Rs. 29,600) while the X20 Plus comes with a price tag of CNY 3,498 (roughly Rs. 34,500).
