Shifting Tides in Dtube Waters - @nathanmars - Thank You!

in vlog •  6 years ago  (edited)

Definitely not a snap! Ranting on the issues we are facing on Dtube and Steem based dapps nowadays and one Steemian that has decided to solve them. This is my first "real Dtube video". Took me more than two days to finish it.... In end, I don't think it turned out that bad for my first attempt :D

Proof of Work

Way to many cuts and edits, lol but I felt like they give the video a much better flow.

What do you think?

Give me some honest feedback and tips on how to improve in the comment section down below! Btw, I know I messed up at a couple of edits but I couldn't do them another way, nor film the parts again so don't be too harsh. Consider that it's my first time and make your judgements based on that :D

Oh yeah, and thank you once again @nathanmars you are a damn legend!

Awesome info here and very well explained. Good stuff and awesome juice.

To be honest with you since all this drama started I actually feel that the community feeling in here have reduced a lot.

The majority of the community have been talking too much about all this problems instead of creating entertaining and creating good stuff.

But yeah @nathanmars really deserve all the praises out there ❤️

Thanks Sergio!

To be honest with you since all this drama started I actually feel that the community feeling in here have reduced a lot.

What do you mean? I havent been here a week ago so I dont know how it was before but now it seems to be pretty fine.

Everyone isready to engage, or at least much more than they ever were before.

At least from what I can tell.

Yeah everyone is engaging with more people... But are they being honest or just doing it because they don't want to look bad.

I don't know.

I have mixed feelings with all this situation and that's why I have been a little bit on the outside and let the things roll.

I have been here for long enough and have some experience from other social media platforms to know that more and more people will be being picky and picking fights for the smaller stuff.

People won't ever be happy. 😪

Let's see where this is going to end. But I hope this change will bring some more good people to the community 😉

Yeah, thats true. The fakeness is real amongst some. Thats one thing I hate the most. Fake comments. Or even worse, fake nice comments.

Those can be seen from miles away.

Ive seen a couple dtubers who obviously are out to get that 7k delegate who just leave straight out impossibly nice commetns to everyone. No matter how shitty or excellent their content is.

I hate dishonest people and wish to see them stop posting their worthless comments on here.

There is only one way where this place and everyone on here is going. All the way up!

Eheh

So maybe I should stop 100% leaving comments to be different. Since everyone now it is so on fire ehehehe

Posted using Partiko Android

hahahah na, that would just be counterproductive and you wouldnt wanna be that way, right?

I'm just hoping sooner than later people stop talking so much about content... And start actually bringing it to the table... Because this last couple of weeks have been too much of that.

Well I guess that was the trend lol and even if this is a decentralised place people will still be falling on the trending themes loops ehehehe

Just hope this one specific trend don't last too much longer cause I am over it before it even started eheheh

Wow I am going to be honest. I am on a tiny little breather from Steemit/Dtube. But I was wondering who is this Runicar guy hehe When I came here I thought to myself.. nooooo that can not be him? When I think of Runicar I think of your Bitmoji! hehe Anyhow now that I know the man behind the logo :P I listened to every last drop. And let me tell you something.. you just lifted me up. I firmly believe in investing our time not only into our own content but more importantly into the platform. If we want to have viewers, and we want a strong platform of quality content creators.. we must invest in one another. Imagine if when pioneers settled a new land 200 years ago if they had said "I am only building MY house.. Screw you guys" And not worked together to build post offices, schools, railways, and so on. This platform is heavily based in community. It is even set up that way. We should support one another, lift each other up, give advice with out attacking when needed, consume things we are interested in, and leave thoughtful comments. There is nothing worse than a fake comment. I can't stand them in fact. They are always so obvious too. What we put out into the universe is what comes back to us.. I really believe that. It is the boomerang effect. So if we want good things, we must do good things. We reap what we sow. I really enjoyed your video Runicar. Not only because the topic was on point but you are a very entertaining person. You held my attention, you have a great sense of humor, you were easy to understand, fun to listen to, and a pleasure to watch. I honestly had seen you kicking around in the comments here and there recently on Steemit/Dtube.. but sometimes it is hard to keep up with who is new etc. Or possibly someone whom I just have not discovered yet. I am very glad I clicked on that little Bitmoji today. But I think I will always think of you as your Bitmoji hehe <3

talk soon @runicar
I just followed, upvoted, & resteemed <3

hahah yeah, that bitmoji became my logo, quite literally. That's why I'm never going to change it and I'll keep using the others.

Imagine if when pioneers settled a new land 200 years ago if they had said "I am only building MY house.. Screw you guys" And not worked together to build post offices, schools, railways, and so on.

That's exactly what some people are doing here and what we must fight to eradicate!

Thanks for stopping by and watching the full video, which I know wasn't an easy task as it's so long. I promise to do shorter ones in the future :D

Also, thanks for the love and support, the resteem, follow and vote! I'll keep an eye out for you and your content in the future.

Cya around our chain of blocks dear @kawaiicrush!

You are probably right, and your number of followers shows that you are doing the right thing with your audience.
It's all about time management, and how many hours you can really sacrifice to engage and consume other people's content too.
You're on point too about narcissism but I would add that anyone accepting to be on camera is a tad narcissistic in the first place...But I digress a little :P

I think having children, a day job, not much money, could be the reason why some people don't engage as much. They just don't have the luxury, need to go back to the daily grinding.
Some of them don't even have constant access to internet.
The truth is very few people have the time to chat, you need to be either rich or retired (or dedicate your life to content creation)
:) I noticed as well, that just chatting with someone while you should be working and make money can become a source of guilt especially when you have a limited time frame. Which is ironic because interacting with their audience would increase their value, but it's often difficult to see long term goals.

I hope I was respectful(enough) in my comment, have a nice day bro :) I think you're doing great!

EDIT:

I realized that your video is valid for content creator like me specifically and the ecosystem of Steemit is so vast so everyone have a different ball game in it.
But If I can take something away from this, is that consuming someone else's content is as valuable as producing content, in symbiosis as you said.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Thank you for putting in such thought into your comment and offering another perspective on these issues.

I think having children, a day job, not much money, could be the reason why some people don't engage as much. They just don't have the luxury, need to go back to the daily grinding.

I completely agree with you on this but then again I've seen some who are "all into STEEM" with no day job or nothing else to worry about that still act like youtube stars, and don't answer their comments.

Which is ironic because interacting with their audience would increase their value, but it's often difficult to see long term goals.

100% some people can't understand the long term game. Something I can't comprehend. I'm in it to win it and the way to do it is to be here forever. Long term dedication is the name of the game and the expression of the week/year.

I hope I was respectful(enough) in my comment, have a nice day bro :) I think you're doing great!

You were!Thank you for your honest reply and encouragement. I highly appreciate it.

But If I can take something away from this, is that consuming someone else's content is as valuable as producing content, in symbiosis as you said.

You got all the right things out of this video!

Looks Amazing!!!!!!! Omg, Look at you! Didn't I say you were a Natural @runicar???? It may have taken two days, But I promise you in a month.....You'll be so much better. I think were going to see a great change of growth on Dtube. Genuine Engagement will bring a platform that people will love to be a part of. @nathanmars is a good soul

Thanks @prettynicevideo, you did! And I still don't believe it 😂
Practice makes perfect so I'm going to do nothing but that in the next couple of months. Going to fully dedicate a lot of time to both writing posts and creting videos.

We are already threading that path of greatness, time will only multiply our efforts. We just need to be patient, for once.
#patienceiskey

Nathan is changing everything. Kickstarter to our personal and dtubes, explosive growth.

Great video. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts. You didn't link your article in the description. That's ok, I will find it. haha. I like that back lighting.

Thanks for the feedback and thanks for pointing that out. Completely forgot about it. Will fix it now. This is the post THE CORRUPTED STATE OF MIND - Some Whales Are Stealing Our Rewards -

Already reading it. Great post. Was something I was a little aware of but did not know all the info.

Glad you like it :D Need to do a write up on the solution. I had an interesting idea on how to solve it but again, forgot about it, lol

Just my opinion. The best solution is to try to make a social change. There are so many complex problems when it comes to freedom. They have the freedom to do those things just as we have the freedom to not like it. It's best to not try and restrict someone else's freedoms but to find the best way to use our own. haha. Freedom is my word of the day because I have resolved myself to that sentiment in regards to this platform.

That change can't be made. Unless it's forced upon. I was thinking about a flagbot (hopefully with high SP) to counter their circle jerks. I would flag them until they decide to capitulate and give 20% of their daily VP on Steemauto to a project like @curie or another curation project for deserving content creators.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

I'm going to look more into this issue. I don't think attacking is the proper thing to do because that is a slippery slope. Is it only considered a circle jerk because they have big accounts? I tend to up vote creators repeatedly because I enjoy their content and know them personally. Would my pie graph match theirs? These are things I'm going to look into. I appreciate you discussing this with me. Defiantly gives me a lot to think about.

It's a circle jerk because it's intentionally only mutually upvoting each other. Ganging up with other high SP accounts only because they got a lot of SP on their hands so they need to do it with equally greedy and wealthy people.

I never think that attacking is the right solution but fear that it's the only one in this case. These people can't be reasoned with.

Try to get haejin to stop

#willneverhappen

If that's what they want to do, they will do it. Unless we ruin their profits with flags from a more powerful account.

You look really cool on video.😎
I like.👍
cutting your videos look unique, and interesting when viewed.
Always success...😀

Oh @lolite you are going to spoil me with your kind words 😂

Thank you for the positive feedback!

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Yes, you are welcome
I just say as it looks, and it's cool.😍

I completely agree with you on everything. Being here is not just about posting your own videos day after day. It's also about talking and engaging with other dtubers and steemians and making the platform and our content better with every post.

Also @nathanmars is the man! He supports this platform and community so much and he's one of the biggest reasons I'm working hard to not only make better content but to engage more with my fellow dtubers. He is an inspiration!

Glad we are on the same page, thanks for your thoughtful comment @aperterikk

Inspiration, motivation, a leader and a legend!

Anytime man! Also now following you.

Thank you so much for this. I am a beginner on Steemit. I tried to register, and finally got my account after 3 months. And this is a good first video to watch!!

Welcome to Steem! Enjoy our chain of blocks and use it's many applications like @dtube,@dsound,@musing,@steempress, @steemmonsters, @steepshot, @actifit and others :D

Wish you much success on your Steem journey!
#engagetogrow

Cool stuff buddy

i post daily as it helps me with my mental health issues and anxiety, it's like a yellow post it note, btw, you followed me on twitter but i did'nt get a message back, i did try to engage. thanks.

Yeah, it helps to keep the mind racing. I'm new to Twitter, not on there a lot, yet. Will check the inbox and reply to you now.

perfect. welcome to twitter. were all getting out, your getting in! :) talking to you there now.

better late than never :D

you were pretty fast in the end, so thanks for that.

This is a great edit man, awesome video! Which camera do you use man? :)

thanks buddy! Sony a6300 but as you see I've had some issues with the manual focus on the lense I'm currently using. Hard to get the sweetspot right all the time so I end up being out of focus more often than I would like to.

Sony has awesome cameras in general, I have also a camera from Sony A line, Sony A 5000 :D
Dont worry too much about it, video quallity is amazing

The a6300 is actually the first camera I ever bought. Very happy with it so far. Just need to buy a couple good lenses for different styles of filming/taking pictures.

Ah, I always like everything to be perfect so I get frustrated when I see something like that happen. Considering to move to my kit lens which has autofocus but lower image quality and a smaller view angle for the next video to see if that will end up better.

Brother!! The fact that you are in the engagetogrow movement makes me so freaking happy! I'm going to be honest with you..I haven't watched the video yet because I don't have fast internet right now, but at least I'm telling the truth :)

Winny out... for now 😉
#engagetogrow

The more of us the better :D I can already feel us adding value to ourselves and Dtube just with our engagement. I'm really glad you were honest with me that you didn't watch it yet, and you will figure out exactly why if you watch the video :D

#engagetogrow

This is a very very good video and plus all the cuts and editing and the amount of time spent. You are good considered you are new to Dtube.

Enjoyed your video. And you are so entertaining with solid points.

Might as well write a diary.. That is a good point.

I see you everywhere now and you are a good role model in engagement. Now we have more and more people who involve in engagement so there is so much future for DTube :)

How you zoom in and zoom out the video?

I hope many will hear this.

See you around and have a great weekend.

Hey @iamjadeline thanks for stopping by and watching/appreciating my work. Glad you enjoyed it and noticed the amount of work I put into making it.

I try to do my best with the limited amount of time I have. It's important that we are good role models because that is the way to inspire others to do the same. A way to shift tides like Nathan is doing.

Which zoom? The Jump Zoom or the slow one?

Thank you and likewise!

The slow zoom...

The jump zoom should be stand nearer the camera? Lol. But super nice editing man. Love it! Make the whole video more interesting rather than just some stand still video.

Okay I must improve my editing too. Haha. But I will take longer time to learn. I only have my mobile phone. Will make do with that first 😉

The slow zoom is made in premiere pro by setting a keyframe at the beginning of a clip and set scale to 100%, then a second keyframe let's say 10 seconds later with scale being at 150% . That will create this smooth, slow zoom in effect. Tweaking duration and amount of scaling (enlarging) the original frame will give you a lot of flexibility.

The jump zoom is not changing position just, increaseing the size of the clip. From the default 100% to another, higher value of your choice. When donig this, aditional repositioning of the frame might be needed in order to keep the subject in the desired spot.

Wow!

This might be too technical for me. Anyway somehow one day sure have to learn. Premiere Pro - surely is for the pro.

Let me check whether do they have mobile app as I only use my phone to do dtube.

I screenshot this comment. Haha. For my reference in the future. Thank you so much @runicar for the tips.

I would like to say one more time. I truly enjoyed your video. From editing. To talking. And even your action. Of course the sharing from your heart.

Alright. See you around. 😉

Trust me it isn't. Anyone can learn Premiere. All the needed information is on youtube. That's how I learned everything I know.

I had no background in this so if I can do it, anyone can.

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement dear :D

Cya around the Dtube waters

#engagetogrow

I am so inspired now to try. Great to hear that, now I know I can.

See you around Dtube waters :D

Awsome video and good message to all users out there!

Thanks for joining the movement !
I am really really glad to see that you made such an awsome video for that topic!

You have this blue light in the background uhh and the editing: great! The background sound is also top. (i love empidemicsound.com as well!)
The effort payed off directly like we can see in your upvotes :D

Thanks a lot for sharing this video and picking good points on that by adding the relation to reality and society! The examples where well chosen mate.

I like the way how you spoke to the self-centered creators and we know there are a lot and I hope that could motivate them to engage more.
I hope this all is not just a big weave of engagement and it the high water will stay here forever!

Thanks again for sharing and joining!

Peace !

#engagetogrow

Thank you for your always thoughtful and considerate comments @tibfox!

Glad you appreciate the little effort I put into making the background look better. It just was so plain without it. Couldn't stand it like that.

I hope this all is not just a big weave of engagement and it the high water will stay here forever!

Well, I know that I'll be doing it whenever I have free time but don't know abot the others tbh.

It gets hard at times, especially when I'm making a video and that can be seen in my comments, or the lack of them.

When I'm making that video im just M.I.A. for a couple of hours to a day. Because I'm so new to this it takes me much more time than needed to create a video so I can't always engage.

Wish I had 4 hands or a clone, lol

Thanks for the feedback!

#engagetogrow

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Haha I know what you mean.
I also have these offtimes when creating content and thats no problem.

Of course everyone want to create valueable content
but sometimes we need to create valueable comments.

And this needs also time. The best way to achieve this balance is to take the time :)
Like you are doing.

Dont worry.. Of course no one has 4 hands (and if yes, this is problably not a good thing ^^) and everyone can understand, that you need to

  • sleep,
  • create your own stuff,
  • meet friends,
  • work
  • etc.etc.

Next to the engagement we need to take care for our human needs also.
The right balance is the key.

You'll get faster by time. Believe me. Just practise :)

#engagetogrow

I know, right? But still I hate to neglect engagement as I preech it so hard so, I feel obligated to be the best and engage as much as I can.

We both know how time consuming that is.

You'll get faster by time. Believe me. Just practise :)

A beastly PC would speed me up the most. At this point the problem is not my lack of skill or experience but the painstakingly long editing process of doing the simple cuts on a crappy laptop.

As soon as I'll be able to afford a gaming machine or laptop I'll upgrade but it seems like I'll have to wait for a long time.

Still waiting for that SBD pump. Would instantly buy so much gear to up my game, pc included.

That would push me really high. Hope it happens sooner than later because today I finally got a long overdue payment of like 500 SBD for a job I did long time ago.

Hey if you are recording with an android - phone I can highly recommend you to use Kinemaster. Thats an awsome app !

Awsome to hear that you got 500 SBD for doing a job! awsome crypto-guy you are :D

Thanks for the tip but I film with a camera and enjoy using and learning editing in Premiere Pro.

Crypto is bringing us to the Age of Abundance my friend. Coins area literally everywhere and so are the opportunities to collect them. We just have to be willing to work hard in order to make them into a reality.

The 500 SBD was sadly the last payment for the job so I'm putting it aside in case SBD price goes crazy again. Now I just need to find a new job :D

Woooooo nice Video

Just got mysef to watch this, I've been meaning to but hadn't the same. You did a great job with your 2st none-snap vlog, I love it. So Much valuable things you said on here, I agree that engagement is very important, and I am glad to see you going hard at it. Keep it Up. xo

Thank you for watching, appreciating my work and getting the point I was trying to get out there.

Great job @runicar

Not being "Fake Nice" but I totally agree ;p
Only thing is I just wonder if the people who need to watch it are watching it
Congratulations on the delegation :D

hehehe I'm glad you aren't :D

Sadly, I'm sure they arent.

One can always hope
And you tried... that's what matters :)

I like your editing. it looks like your spirit is very serious on the dtube platform. I hope your work will be valued appropriately

Thanks! And it is! I'm only getting started and will just do more and be better in the future. That would be nice but, I'm not here mainly for that but rather to increase my skillsets, become a great vlogger, editor, build up self-confidence and grow!

While sure buddy you did made a lot of difference in those 13 Minutes.

While some things that you said are sure will be here and for us Small users there are a lot of things that you mentioned can be changed in order to make some difference for ourselves in Steem Journey.

I do like your thoughts and will sure follow the things that I was missing and all. Apart from that Nathan is sure doing sth great and you sure deserve it buddy.

Well those two Days was indeed worth it.

Wow this is great! It was very engaging and I could sit down do work and listen to the whole thing and understand it! you cut it very well!
Btw what do you mean he spent 450 steem on top of his delegations?? Sorry I’m not so good with the technical stuff.
Thanks for doing this video!!

Thanks! Glad you liked the cuts and were able to sit through the full length of the vid :D

He didn't delegate his own SP this time but rather bought the delegations for us, from blocktrades.

Each one costs 450 STEEM. You can see for yourself here:
https://blocktrades.us/?input_coin_type=eth&output_coin_type=steem_power&receive_address=runicar

OMG THATS WOW... no words but awe and
Thankfulness and wow.. thank you @nathanmars

One of the best videos i watched lately (youtube included). Although i do find myself jerking around i think you made some positive impact here and i will try to stay as positive and "selfless" as it gets. Looking forward to your next one.

Thanks buddy! Highly appreciate the kind words. Well, we aren't the issue here. THe small accounts are only doing it because they can't get rewards in another way. Because the big accounts are milking their cows and not sharing the milk with anyone else. Except their cowboy driends.
