Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe - Photo Adventure (video and pic from last night)

in vlog •  7 years ago  (edited)

Last night I got out to Emerald Bay for a photo I've envisioned for quite some time. The photo didn't turn out exactly like I had pictured but it's a good one anyway. Check out the video if you want a little glimpse into my evening's adventure.

The keeper ended up being a 375 second long exposure photo, shot on a Canon 5Dsr with a 16-35mm lens set at 16mm. The ISO was 200 and the aperture was f6.3. Even though it was pretty dark, a graduated neutral density filter was used in order to darken the moonlit sky and balance the foreground exposure with the sky. The long exposure was necessary to get the streaks from the lights of the moving cars.

Happy Easter Fool. A few days away. Vegas Baby!

I've been meaning to tell you, I'm not going to be able to make it...

Haha! Yeah, April Fools! So ready for the Vegas fun!!!

Pretty cool to see you in action. The descent in the dark looked like fun. :)

Glad you liked it @brandt. I was concerned about my decent in the dark after it got colder and the snow started to freeze back up but yeah, it ended up being a ton of fun and a whole lot faster than trying to walk back down.

I expect to see a video of you and Pinky the Ice Axe in action soon. Then again, maybe it wouldn't be such a great idea to film that...

It sounds like a marvelous idea. I'll start planning. Maybe me and Pinky can shoot some video later in the summer when the snow is gone and the weather is nicer and more unsuspecting tourists are wandering around lost in the mountains.

Haha! Careful, more tourists means more potential witnesses.

Good advice. We will wait for the ones that travel alone in very remote places.

Glad to be of help.

OMG!! I hadn't seen this, amazing!!! I love it 💙

Thank you @jesskue! Glad you love it. I'll try to keep making more vids like this. Cheers!
