Actually, I have long wanted to dive. However, because diving is an extreme sport, we are required to have a diving permit before we can dive. It is all just returning to our salvation. Because by having a diving permit, it means that we are expected to understand things that may and may not be done when diving. But who would have thought diving on Sabang Island had become my first dive?
Then How Can I Dive on Sabang Island?
At first, there was no intention at all to be able to dive on this Sabang Island. Because, indeed I myself have not yet had a diving permit. Starting to take a friend who already had a diving permit, I was questioned by a divemaster at the place where my friend would do the diving.
How happy my heart was after hearing the narration from the Mas Divemaster. And it turns out, it's not just me who is tempted by the offer. Mas Bukrie, my traveling companion was also tempted to join the fun dive package.
Diving is expensive?
Well, after learning that I can also dive in this Sabang Island. My next anxiety is the price problem. Indeed diving is practically not a cheap sport. For this fun dive, I have to be willing to spend 500k. That includes diving equipment, instructors, boat rentals, and lunch. So I think it's worth the cost.
Diving Preparation
After deciding to go diving, I could not immediately plunge into the water. First, I have to fill in some documents. Including diseases that have been suffered, to numbers that can be contacted if things happen that are not desirable. "Wih, horrified?" Yes, what can I do, because considering diving is indeed extreme sports, we have to prepare everything as well as possible.
Next is the introduction of diving equipment. This is what makes me excited. "Is there any shirt that is diving for my body?" Well, because my body is indeed classified as extra from people in general heheheh. But my luck is that there are enough clothes. Because in Rubiah Tirta Divers, where we dive, it is also common to receive Caucasian guests, which have a relatively large body. 😀
Time to dive
After all of our preparations are done, it is time to dive. We also take a boat to cross to the opposite island, Rubiah Island. There is still a sense of anxiety when first entering the water. It's not directly to the depths. We were first taught on the beach about how to breathe using oxygen cylinders.
After getting used to diving equipment, we start to go deeper. And, wow kerennn, first time swimming, along with the fish. Whether at what depth, we also see carcasses and motorbikes that are deliberately drowned for coral growth. But unfortunately, in some places, we see a lot of damaged coral too. According to local residents, that was the impact of the 2004 tsunami. So now it is still in the recovery process at several dive points.
