FreeTalk: My Biggest Steem Failure and Where My Steem Future is Headed

in vlog •  6 years ago

I'll keep the notes short. I did not get in Sndbox. I failed during the summer camp.

This @dtube vlog is just my free talk (like freewrite) about this experience and what I think about my future in this platform.

Cheers

@wanderlass you did not fail one bit. You were in summer camp and have shown your strengths just the timing of working was not in your favour. Please don’t give up or be upset because there is always next time! Lots of hugs ❤️❤️

I'm sorry for this late reply. I'm even late to upvote your comments. I'm really busy at work and IRL atm, and I also wanted to take a break from the platform.

I have read all your messages repeatedly and I'm so touched by your concern, encouragement and your guidance to direct me to the brighter side of things. I always needed those reminders and I appreciate that you took time to even watch my vlog and provide me with your insights. I truly appreciate them.

As most of you have said, I shouldn't take this as a failure. I am just frustrated because I was personally and deeply invested in Steem that all these are hurting me. So I guess a break helped. I'll try not to be away for months. I do have content from my recent trip that I will share about so I think I'll still be here. :) But as you have reminded me, I need to look at it via a different perspective - that will not end in frustrations and another event like this.

I hope you're all doing well. I appreciate the well wishes and I wanna send back my best wishes to you all. Virtual hugs!

I'm so glad I heard from you @wanderlass! I at least wanted the chance to make sure that you know that I missed you! I haven't been posting a ton here lately either, but I do think that there are things going to be happening in the future that will enable me to be able to help you grow here!

I know the hard work you put in here and I know that you will be one of what I would consider my partners here to succeed! So don't forget to keep checking back in and see if I grew any, I think you might be surprised very soon ;)

ps... message me with any posts you put out on discord... I want to give you my support and also want to make sure I read them :D

I appreciate it all the support. Thanks @davemccoy!

Glad you are still check in! Don't forget to message me your posts ;)

Thank you for remain with Steemit.

Thank you for all the hard work you did on the first project. I know from first hand experience that the Summer Camp is missing out on a valuable team member by not having you.

I'm touched by how important it was to you, and that you were willing to be vulnerable and share the disappointment and sadness with us.

I appreciate your content very much and hope that you continue to show up in my feed from time to time. We're still at the very beginning of this, and if Steem gets more popular you'll be in good position. Continue being so real and I believe you'll do very well here longterm.

Sorry to hear that @wanderlass, and from your video I know how disappointed you are. Not getting into Sndbox this time is not the end of it as they will do cohorts again, and you certainly didn't fail, we all knew it was going to be a tough journey. Some learn to walk faster than others when they grow up, but we all get there in the end.

Don't ever give up
You are very intelligent and also very beautiful
I didn't make my first million till I was 40 years old. Lost it by 42
Then built a 28 million business at 45 gone by 50
Realized I needed new wife. Ha ha
Actually. No wife. Could have made 100 million would not be enough for her
Lol

That's all beside the point
You seem very determined
Speak things as if they are
Believe it to be so
Smile like there is no tomorrow
Watch it come to fruition

I enjoy your post although I am very new to this social networking
Or online
I have always been successful in everything I put my mind too
Failures bring the rewards of hard work and dedication in the form of what we call success

I think greatest asset is become or realize you are successful in the game of life
The rest is a cake walk

Sorry I ramble so much

Hmmm @wanderlass totally hear you and your disappointment and frustration!

But I really don't agree with it.

I don't agree with your notion of 'failure'. You have learnt regardless and you have got to where you are perhaps with some assistance, but mainly through doing it yourself. I don't quite get why you think you need to be hand-held to 'progress' further. Do you think you do?

If you want a slider, try using Steempeak.com or Busy.org :D - sorry my friend, I'm not accepting the situation you describe. This is mainly because I think you are describing yourself through comparison to others, and this is getting you down. This is also fake - you are you, and not someone else!

The way I see it is this. Fiat will plunge at some stage when the global financial crisis becomes apparent to enough people that the illusions are shattered and the system takes a dive. When that happens, crypto will go through the roof. Therefore, it doesn't matter if your stash is only 300 and all around you see folk with millions - doesn't matter coz you may only need 10 for all your needs. See what I'm saying? If 300 is 30 times more than what you need (and of course this will grow as well) - what then does the comparison even mean?

I am actually considering 'retiring' - was even thinking of writing a post about it :D ...... I've just bought some Steem and am up to 330. I consider this to be sufficient - I will buy more if I can and will continue to increase my hodling via organic account growth. I too will get to a steemit slider stage :). But it doesn't matter, I'm safe where I am. I can retire now from trying to sell my output in any way - I can retire from trying to write for networking/profit/blah blah....I can retire from doing anything that I don't feel like. Which then means that I can free myself up to write and express myself, without worrying about other things (they will follow anyway, and any 'whale' votes I have had have only ever come on posts where I have let myself go and freely express).

It's not bad @wanderlass, not even fucking close. Drop the negative outlook my friend, just drop it. It is further unnecessary stress that you are taking on. You will help yourself and your account by letting go of the notion of failure. This is a lie that you are telling yourself - it is likely to be based on other factors than what you are stating. The scarcity mindset belongs to the old world of fear, it belongs to the city of the dead and dying - you are a wanderer, you travel, why confine yourself to a small dark place?

[Edit] just watched this 2 min video by @meno called Comparison is the Killer of Joy - very relevant I think :D

I think you should take something very positive from the whole experience - look how comfortable you are in front of the cam! 😉

I understand your frustrations and I also took some time off Steem now because with the amount of work and time you put in just doesn't make sense.

I have always said that if you engage, put out good content and be in communities the chances of getting more support would be better.

In a way it was but then I got distracted, life caught up and I couldn't spend the 6-10 hours in Steemit and doing my job and living a life and so I saw myself needing to choose and lately that choice was to not get so involved in Steemit.

Like you sometimes it a luck of draw with those whale votes. So I am just thankful that I get the. From time to time.

Like you I wanted to be in sndbox and know how big a help it would be to me if I got in. Yet things are not over. You still have a lot of things going for you.
Maybe dtube is the answer and these vlogs of your which is true and raw and you.

Hope for the best for you and don't fret too much on your growth.

You look disappointed but do not give up!! Hope it get better soon

Where have you been? Please come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

I miss you @wanderlass.... Please let me know if you come back. And if you only catch this, but never come back, I wish you the best in life. I had a very high opinion of you and think you are one of the top people I've met here!

I also just watched your video... I have this to say to add to what I've already said... If there is a group out there that didn't take you, then I don't think that group is worth being in. You are an amazing individual and you should realize it and not let other people make you think anything less.

I also have been here with you from the beginning and I know that one day you will find out that it isn't what you have its the people you've made friends with along the way. I think you will be able to come back here and do well so please take your break and realize that if you come back when things are better that you haven't lost your true friends here. Like I said, if you don't come back I know I will miss you and I imagine there will be others that will miss you too. I hope you have a great day, put a smile on your face, and be all you can be!

We don't see it as failure. You managed to get in the summer camp, which was an achievement in itself and as you said, a tough task. Other circumstances such as a work/business trip for you and for us, Uni deadlines came up...yes we didn't make it into Cohort 2 too. Also, maybe our applications for Sndbox Cohort 2 didn't match their expectation (and/or) there were better candidates as it is only a select few. Your vlog is a clear way of getting your emotions out and talking about your next steps. Hosting your own blog/website is a good step forward. Just reassess your path once you're back in Manila. We hope you stay with Project Giving as it's just starting, but we understand if you want to take time off Steemit. Wishing you all the best in whatever decision you go for!

Don't ever give up.
