  2. Innovation:
The innovation it takes to come up with sentences and have them mean something is the reason I wake up in the morning to shave.

  3. Novice:
I understand that I am a novice writer who struggles with creating stories that people will enjoy reading.

I'm struggling with the creation part. Not a problem when I'm inspired and the piece is coming through me and out. Not a problem when I write random sentences for the vocab words. Not a problem with the freewrite either (there is no way to screw those up). However, when I've sat down for some of the fiction story challenges, I'm hitting major road blocks. I do think I am making it way more complicated in my head than it actually has to be.

Some of the challenges are around speaking about things and naming them. I've always had a terribly tough time with names and thinking of them on the spot has stopped my creative flow quite often. If you have ever seen "The Legend of Korra" (Avatar - The Last Air Bender: These two series are soooo awesome! I highly recommend you check them out), there is a character named Verik who refers to everything as a thing when he asks something of his assistant, Julie. Verik will be like, "Julie, had me the thing. Do this and that thing. Clean this thing.," and the thing gets done. I'm a lot like him. haha

Good work!

As for novice writers, even many of the most accomplished writers consider themselves novices in the craft. There's always something to learn, and always room for improvement. That's part and parcel of the process of creation.

MY VOCAB PRACTICE

  1. A novice in marriage can hardly give sound marital advice to quarrelling couples.

  2. Andrew's new art work was a novelty one.

  3. Everyone was wowed by the recent innovation in the car industry.

Good work!

This is great. Surprised I never noticed the Vocab-ability posts before. Here is a bit of my practice in the form of an image.

I believe @steemmonsters and @chibera will be happy I used them in my vocabulary practice. Not to mention tagging them here. Also our new users can benefit from the lessons in English vocabulary and the brief word derivation provided by your daily posts. Good on you mate!

Thank you for your educational posts. I reckon that your posts are probably geared towards those that have English as their second language, but this would be useful to English speakers as well. It is this type of posting that will assist in the renovation of our platform (see what I did there? lol).

Good work!

Thanks for you insights and encouragement. Yes, this is mostly for ESL students, but also for anyone interested in English.

One request ... if you do another Vocab Practice, with a similar image, please make it about 40% larger, so that I can read it easily. (I spend enuf time reading thru them all, so anything that speeds up the process is appreciated. Thanks.)

Also, please read Rule #4 above. It helps me find all the entries.
