"MY VOCAB PRACTICE"

  1. Each section of the Holiday Camp Resort's expansion project had to be inspected and signed off by the Manager but when he came around to thw new long drop facility, he refused to sign off as completed as they would need to deepen the holes first by an additional 1 meter (this avoid future issues of sewerage/waste smells disturbing campers and causing potential health risks).
  2. The team gathered for an impromptu meeting to discuss how best to hasten their progress if they were to meet the target completion date of the project.
  3. I have always cooked gravy and other sauces with a roux as this was the way my mother taught me, but I discovered a lot of other people find it easier to thicken theirs with cornflour instead.

  1. Deepen:
    We were advised to deepen our trust in the lord.

  2. Hasten:
    I had to hasten my application in order to get favoured.

  3. Thicken.
    I had to thicken the thrub to protect as a fence.

I think these vocab excercises are great; I am an English teacher too, and happen to love it as well, so anything that promotes the language -thereby helping to maintain high standards in the face of the obscenities and assaults recent trends and the internet perpetuate - is a significant and valuable way to make a difference and I appreciate it.
