Why Work Won't Solve your Emotional/Existential/Spiritual Burnout

I am writing this post [originally] on linked in, well because I figure if your on here looking at articles, or looking for jobs, you may just fall into the category of being a workaholic. In my estimation work was designed to bring us fulfillment in vary degrees along our quest to spiritual evolution and individuation. Really careers only serve as an external medium with which you can complete your internal quest. As external harmony is generally only an external manifestation of internal peace. When we are at peace with ourselves, and our vocational pursuits, then we can handle problems with great dexterity, and poise that is unmatched by our competitors.

Yet if we are stuck in the traditional corporate "roles" in which our own personal developmental goals are taking a major backseat to "company interests" then we become stuck on a shitty hamster wheel, which has us focused on finding external fulfillment. Obviously, money alone won't fix anything, and attaining corporate prominence is worth nothing to someone who defines their own wealth internally. Yet I am stuck with this very same quandary with many of my clients on a day-to-day basis who feel unable to pursue their inner quest because some external monetary or relationship prerequisites have not been met.

Heres a news flash, The perfect opportunity for internal development will never hit you in the face! The good news being that the perfect opportunity for spiritual development is everyday.

That quest starts with finding a proper vocation, and a spiritual purpose greater than your iPhone, your lover, or your attainment of creative acclaim. As the romans well understood, the masses are fickle, and if you're looking for some sort of group approval or validation from the masses on the earth, don't get your hopes up. Because with fame, you also get infamy, and possibly megalomania. So be careful what you wish for and plot your vocational ascent carefully, as success has ruined more men and women than failure ever will! Until then, contact me if you would like help finding your vocational path!

Sincerely,

Austin Muhs
