True Liberty Podcast: Episode 6 – What Does It Mean To Be A Voluntaryist?steemCreated with Sketch.

in voluntaryism •  8 years ago

In this podcast episode we ask the question, what does it mean to be a voluntaryist? Most people agree that voluntaryism is “a philosophy which holds that all forms of human association should be voluntary” –Wikipedia. This in turn means human interaction should be without violence and coercion.

Adam, Nathan, and Will lay out different scenarios and discuss what a voluntaryist society would do in response to general issues experienced by societies. How do voluntaryists tackle fraud or theft? Watch the episode for our thoughts on the matter.

The NAP or Non-Aggression Principle is also discussed in the video podcast. The NAP is a fundamental principle for voluntaryists.

The non-aggression principle is an ethical stance which asserts that “aggression” is inherently illegitimate. “Aggression”, for the purposes of NAP, is defined as initiating or threatening the use of any and all forcible interference with an individual or individual’s property.  In contrast to pacifism, the non-aggression principle does not preclude violent self-defense. Wikipedia
