#Daisy Doesn't Care Who You Voted For

Friends, meditators, I don’t care who you voted for, I still like/love/accept you and know that regardless of your politics you’re simply a person trying to get by and be the best human you can be. For some that means leaning to the right and for some it means leaning to the left. But ultimately we’re all just being the best we can be.   

And #DaisyDoesNotCareWhoYouVotedFor either, because dogs love unconditionally.  

But the most powerful vote you can cast is not at the ballot box but in your meditation chair. When you get your butt on chair twice daily for 20 minutes whilst diving into bliss you:   

  1. Cast a vote for less reduced health care costs. With the voluminous research on the medical benefits of meditation there is now no question about the results. Significantly reduced rates of cancer, heart related illness, mental breakdowns and visits to the doctor. If everyone meditated twice daily the question of “who pays for healthcare” would be a trivial question.   
  2. Cast a vote for reduced gun violence. When people meditate they reduce stress. Stress is actually the reason people kill each other. Without stress and suffering there is no hate. Without hate there is no killing. Whether you are pro gun or no gun you still want the same thing – for you and your family to be able to live peacefully and safely without fear. The best way to achieve this is not by focusing on the guns but by reducing stress and suffering.   
  3. Cast a vote for greater safety. When people meditate they are less stressed and more happy. The less stress and more happiness there is the less demand for violence there is. If people are happy and getting along they don’t want to hurt each other. When people meditate they are more present and focused so there are less accidents.   
  4. Cast a vote for no illegal immigration. Regardless of your personal opinion on immigration, the reason people immigrate illegally is usually because they believe life for them and their family will be better. But if they are meditating life improves wherever they are. When people meditate there is more orderliness (and therefore less lawlessness), there is less crime, there is less violence and there is greater productivity. So the need to escape goes away and life gets better wherever they are.   
  5. Cast a vote for acceptance. The more stressed a person is the harder it is for them to accept someone or thing that is different to them. The more happy and less stressed they are the more they can accept diversity. Whether it’s diversity of thought or genetics. There was a time when white Catholics and white Protestants fought each other. Still around the world people fight each other based on tribal affiliations. Whether it’s actual tribes in Afghanistan or Africa or gangs in the US. The more a person can breath and the less stress they have the less likely they are to resort to violence.   
  6. Cast a vote for a better economy. Regardless of your politics most people agree that a better economy is better for all. They may just disagree on the specifics of that. When people meditate they are more productive, more efficient and more healthy. All of this leads to better output and more efficient use of inputs.   
  7. Every time you meditate you cast a vote for the reduction of suffering. And at the end of the day, all of the BS we are seeing is not really about politics, it’s about the collective suffering.   So wherever you are, sit down and vote. If you’re on the freeway every exit represents a place to sit with eyes closed and vote. If you’re at home your couch is the best place to vote. If you’re at work simply close your eyes and take 20 minutes to vote.
