Please, appreciate the author's work; don't just self-upvote a generic commentsteemCreated with Sketch.

Everyone PLEASE...

Saving all of your voting power for yourself kind of defeats the purpose of this platform, does it not? Don't give someone a 1% upvote just so you can comment on the post and give yourself a 100% upvote. While upvoting solely yourself may be beneficial in the short term, we will all gain more in the long run if we promote content that is truly good with well-powered upvotes.

This practice, of valuing your own comments more than the original content itself, is nothing but self-serving and will slow down the growth of this community! A lot of people join this platform because they think the possibility of earning money just by posting is an amazing concept!

If you're going to give yourself upvotes on other people's content, at least be courteous enough to give them the same value that you give yourself!

This is assuming you're not writing a long-winded reply to someone's question, this is for the people who write 1 sentence or less replies on other steemians who post lengthy / time-consuming blogs...

okay /rant over :)

You make very good points.

Sadly the way that I see it, the Steemit platform mechanically encourages cases of users to engage in either self-upvoting or circular up-voting.

Imagine you're a whale with a 100% capability of adding $50 to 'something'. Powergaming the system would require either self-upvoting or voting for another whale with similar or better power - with the unspoken accord of scratching each others' backs.

I'm not saying that this is what happens - but I suspect that it does. It makes logical sense by my limited perspective (a non-self-upvoter)
