I support a more informed electorate as a bare minimum prerequisite for a more engaged electorate.

Ain't no shame in Bob from work not caring about politics, but if he ain't educated on the topic I don't want him making decisions for the rest of us.

To be fair... As a general rule I don't want informed people making decisions for us either absent consent, in or out of government, consensus or no. And some people have just enough knowledge for hubris and fatal conceit, imagining they know better than everyone else enough to take over individual decisions on their behalf.

Some level of the thing might be unavoidable, but those who think they know best tend to do no better than 8 billion people all pursuing things in their own way and adapting in that space without much central control.

Like... Some of the smartest investors in the world aren't likely to beat the results of a standard diversified S&P fund.

I think I just want people smart enough to realize they don't actually know shit.

Like... The most confident are the least educated, and the most educated tend to recognize their own limitations outside of the technocrats.

One issue I take with democracy 1 person = 1 vote. Someone that does research carries the same voting weight as one who may be a single choice voter, or someone that only votes their preferred party regardless of candidate quality.

Maybe have a voting system based on a yearly IQ test that adjusts your voting weight based upon IQ?
