Several years ago, Vox came out with a video claiming that color film was made for white people.

Okay, ya might have kinda-sorta an argument with Shirley Charts; but, most of the images the Vox used to bolster their side of the argument were taken on Kodachrome.

Kodachrome was a high contrast slide film. Namely, it wasn't actually generally meant for prints; so, the Shirley Charts weren't relevant. Even if and when they were, Kodachrome, in the hands of photographers who knew what the hell they were doing, produced some of the most gorgeous images of people of color in human history.

The stupidity of this narrative has no end.

This Saturday, I photographed people of various skin tones on the same film.

I took spot measurements on the models with pale skin and the models with dark skin. That was because I wanted to treat their skin properly with each frame.

Dark skin reflects less light than light skin. That's physics. I can't change it, and Kodak can't change it. In fact, caucasian skin tends to go red with film stocks with vibrant color.

If I have my way, every individual will be photographed properly. If the woke mob has its way, it'll be viewed as racist for me to use my spot meter.
