A few days ago I published an article dealing with how you can unblock Netflix in June 2022. It was an article 100% in favor of ExpressVPN as that was the only VPN that I was able to use to unblock American Netflix, Canadian Netflix, Japanese Netflix, and lots of other regions. What is wrong? I couldn't understand what went wrong with NordVPN and SurfsharkVPN, but I simply reported what I saw.
But, then I went somewhere else and used SurfsharkVPN on my Linux computer. I connected to a server in Austria to test something and by a coincidence, I visited the Netflix website. That is when I realized that I didn't see the "international" Netflix version, but the local version of Austrian Netflix. What happened with the VPN that I just believed didn't work properly with any Netflix region at all? How come I was able to suddenly see the content of Austrian Netflix?
As I discovered this, I got really eager to find out if I would be able to watch Netflix content in other countries as well with Surfshark. And that is when I realized that I could stream Top Gun on Swedish Netflix, Madam Secretary and Full Metal Jacket on US Netflix, Lethal Weapon and This Is Us on Canadian Netflix, and so much more.
What had changed within a few days?
I couldn't understand what had happened. Why did Surfshark suddenly work? Why was I able to use the service to unblock Netflix, a service that didn't work at all a few days earlier?
I started to do some research and I quickly got suspicious at my operating system. That is when I read some more about what would make a VPN not unblock Netflix in Windows. The article I read mentioned the antivirus program as a possible reason, so I decided to turn it off for the sake of testing. And yes, when I turned off the antivirus program, I immediately got access to the local Netflix content of the different countries that had worked earlier on my Linux computer.
And that made me realize that Surfshark had worked all along (and the same is true about NordVPN), but my Windows computer blocked the access with the antivirus software.
And thus I started to look for a solution that would help me stream Netflix with SurfsharkVPN and NordVPN in Windows without disabling my antivirus software. That led to the article I just linked to and there you can find out how I ended up solving it all in the end.
But, it has been a little quest to solve the problem and I am really happy to have discovered the solution to it all. I guess it is time to unblock Netflix once again, meaning that I do not have much time to write this and other articles. But, I will do my best! :)
