Are you using a VPN provider?
Well if the answer is yes, you have to configure your mac properly in order to be private. Other wise it's pretty much like if you were not using a VPN.
First of all, here is a website where you can check if your mac is leaking your home IP address
This is what you should see
1-Disable IPv6
Open Terminal and type this commant of you are using Wi-Fi
networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi
This command if you use Ethernet
networksetup -setv6off Ethernet
2-Disable Location Services in System Preferences
- System Preferences
- Security & Privacy
- Privacy tab
- Location Services
- Uncheck Enable Location Services
3-Disable Spotlight (Bing Web Searches)
- System Preferences
- Spotlight
- Uncheck (Bing Web Searches)
- Uncheck (Allow Spotlight Suggestions in Spotlight and look up)
4-Disable some Widgets
- System Preferences
- Extensions
- Today
- I only keep (Calendar, Reminders, Calculator)
5-Use a different time zone than your city
- System Preferences
- Date & Time
- Time Zone tab
- Select and other city than where you live but in the same time zone if you want the same time :)
Safari Configuration
1-Disable Website use of location services
- Safari
- Preferences...
- Privacy tab
- On (Website use of location services) select (Deny without prompting)
2-Disable search options
- Safari
- Preferences...
- Search tab
- Deselect all and use DuckDuckGo as your search engine
Now go again here https://ipleak.net and you should see this
That's it!! Hope it's going to help!!! Take care!!! :)
