"Andre I recently started this business and it isn't going well... I have not made sales... I feel put under pressure. I just saw this new business and it is making waves, but I don't like the product. Should I go into the business? It will fetch me a handsome amount of cash, but I don't like the business."

Hello guys, it is a beautiful morning here in this part of the world. Yes, I am in bed and I have just read through my blog and have replied to all your beautiful comments. I really appreciate your comments.

Back to the blog post.

Starting a business is not a task that anyone gets into light footed. To start a business, there are a whole lot or few things to do. Of course "who is that man, when he wants to build a house doesn't first sit to count his cost?"

  1. Passion is a must in any business:

"It is passion that keeps a man dancing with his lover long after she is off the stage."

I want to talk about the intangible things that are needed in starting any business. There is a quote about "the spiritual controlling the physical." I want to believe there is also a quote that says the intangible controls the tangible. The latter can be deduced from the former. That being said.

Passion is like oil. When you start a business, you want to make sure you have a drive to see that it attains a level where is becomes sustainable and efficient. You can't get there without passion.

Passion is what keeps a man awake at night to research better ways of doing things. You can't say you are passionate and the next thing you are thinking of is how to 'dump' your business for a "what is trending." Passion keeps you pushing more and more each day until you reach that goal.

If you check the number of businesses that have stood the test of time, you soon realize the founders were passionate about the business. The ones that end up crumbling are the ones that were later placed in the hands of team members that were not passionate about the business.

Passion cannot be instilled - you either have it or not.

  1. Find what you are passionate about and do it consistently:

"Consistency and Passion are birds of a feather but often do not flock together."

Maybe they are identical twins, but I am sure that they don't often travel the same path.
I have seen people with passion, but once they walk on water for a second, they often sink. They can't stand the waves blowing them here and there. They soon become distracted by what the other business owner is doing and are soon sinking deep in confusion and frustration.

In owning a business, you have to own it. Stay on that business.

A wise man once said "No one is born timid or brave. The man who is considered brave is the one who stays brave longer than others." Soon he becomes timid again. I think it is a thing of who stays brave long enough to achieve success. You have to believe in what you do.

Somehow the 'universe' favours the bold.

Another thing consistency does, is that it sharpens your skill and establishes you as an authority in a particular field.

  1. Learn new ways of doing things:

"Sometime jogging is not enough, running is best."

For you to be established as an authority in a field, you have to discover new ways of doing things. Sometimes jogging is not enough to burn that amount of calories. You should try running consistently for a period of time and see the changes come speedily.

The message of consistency is not one that present itself as the final bus stop. In saying that you should be consistent, I mean you should remain in that line of business, with certain established way of doing things while considering better ways of improving your business. If you consistently do the same things without any form of modification or remodification, soon the world would have travelled light years while leaving you behind.

For a conclusion, there are a whole lot of intangible concepts you must have a grip on before venturing any business. The list is inexhaustible.

I know you can do that business with the right mindset and set goals. So pursue, overtake and recover all.
