FORGOTTEN BUT ON RECORD(Heb.11:25)Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season(KJV).
Today's passage highlights one great truth we must never forget as we daily live our lives. The truth is that though sins have pleasures, they(the pleasures) are for short moment. The pleasures of sins never last. The pleasures are transient. Sins are committed in moments and are soon forgotten.
For example, for how long does pleasures of immorality last? May be a night. But it will soon fade away and forgotten. A thief steals and will enjoy the booties for a season as it can't last him forever. He will soon plan another stealing operation. As years roll he may lost counts of his stealing operations. As transient as pleasures of sins are and as quickly as sins committed are forgotten, they are however on records against sinners.
Moses had that understanding. That was the reason he chose to suffer affliction with God's people over enjoying the pleasures of sin for a season. He understood that the enjoyment will not last but the record stays.
Beloved, this is more reason we must chose obedience to God over and above sinning. Sins have their pleasures and gains but they smear our records. They can only be cleansed by repentance and conversion.
When next you're tempted to sin, think of the transience of its pleasures and permanence of its record. You shouldn't forget that when we die those things written in the record book of God concerning how we live our lives will form the basis of God's judgement(Rev.20:12).
Sins committed will be enjoyed briefly and forgotten but their records are permanent if not repented of and desist from. I ask God to put hatred for sins in our hearts in Jesus' name.
Happy Sunday to everyone
