MY LAZINESS, MY FATHER'S FAULT
If I am lazy,
Blame my father.
He was commissioner at 27,
Minister at same age,
Military governor at 32,
And head of state at same age.
He has held all positions
Meant for me
And refused to vacate any for me.
Yet he says I am lazy.
If I am lazy,
Blame my Daddy.
One of his rooms bustles with cash;
He has acquired so many mansions,
Drives several luxurious cars
And posh power bikes.
All he claims are for my use
When I become like him.
How can I grow like him
When he has made me a dwarf,
With the weight of these possessions
That have left nothing for me to aspire to!
If I am lazy,
My Dad spoilt me.
With no means of livelihood
Yet I cruise in expensive toys
And stately power bikes
And fly to any part of the world
In chartered flights or first class!
If I am lazy,
Pin it on my Daddy,
Who on slightest headache or fever
Or fall on my power bike
Flies me abroad
In air ambulance
For best teatment.
If I am lazy,
My father caused it.
He refused that I should work
Even when I acquired the best education
In one of the best universities
Outside my country.
If I am lazy,
Don't blame me;
If I am lazy,
Blame my father.
If I only sit and wait
For oily oil money,
Don't blame me but my father
Who incapacitated me,
Stunted and dwarfed my growth,
Occupied my position
And refused to retire
And leave the stage for me.
