I took my birthday to the Streets

Good day darlings, I am @gee1, the Steem Evangelist.

I turned a year older on Saturday, May 12 and I felt it was best to extend some love to the poor beggers on the streets and the motherless babies home. I was too busy on my birthday because I was the maid of honor for my friend's wedding. It was a huge sacrifice but what are friends for? I had to do it for my friend. Due to my busy schedule on my birthday, I had to reschedule another day for the visit. So I visited them on Sunday, 13th May after Church.

Few days to that day, I made my budget for both the Motherless babies home and the street beggers. My budget was more for the Motherless babies home than that for the street beggers.

I bought snacks and water for the street beggers while I bought diapers, detergents, noodles, toilet tissues, and buckets for the orphanage.

On getting to the streets, I was bewildered by what I saw. I was faced by young, old, helpless, injured and hungry people who needed help. Food is the most important thing to these people and they were ready to fight for it.

They were so aggressive but hungry. The circumstances of life around them has forced them to believe that the best way to get food was to fight for it.

At a point I was scared that they could steal my gadgets and that of my friends. A traffic controller around noticed how perplexed my friends and me were and advised that we should keep every of our gadgets safe and then try to control the crowd first.

So we asked them to stand on a straight line. This was when sanity was restored and we got the chaos in control.

The snacks and water we gave to them meant so much to them. You could see the joy in their hearts after they received it. Some even tapped me to say, Aunty please give me water. Some of them jubilated and danced after receiving the sachet water. And the snacks felt like gold to them.

Some of them have been toughened by the streets. Some think that lieing is the only way to survive. My heart sank when a very young child that had received snacks came back again to say, Auntie, I have not collected before, please give me. I could recognize his face so I told him no dear, I think I can remember I gave you. Then he nodded in agreement. When I gave him again, he was so so happy and thanked me with a big smile.

Life is not easy with the street beggers and they need all the love they can receive. Most of them are injured and cannot afford medical care. Some have ulcers that should be treated but they don't have the means.

This isn't going to be my last visit to the streets. It is even a call to do more. These people need all the love and care they can get.

Dear Friends

Please do well to reach out to the street urchins. You don't need so much money to be able to reach out to them. They are hungry and right now, all that matters to them is food. If we are able to give them food, then will we be able to gain their trust and attention and probably be able to rehabilitate them and help them with information to help themselves.

Big shout out to @tojukaka, @winniesamuels and Precious for coming through for me. It would not have been easy controlling the crowd alone. Thanks for your time and support. I am grateful.
