Cannabis culture has been exploding like never before onto the social scene of Britain, with nearly one in 3 UK residents having tried the substance, and 1 in 5 using it today. It's seen spikes in popularity as the scientific consensus has shifted more positively towards the substance, and many people see using the substance now as advocating it's use. Demonstrations occur to protest it's prohibition, rallies to promote it's uses, all the while users are forced to obtain it illegally in which they then risk prosecution.
Assembly Members in Wales have been noticing that a lot of people with terminal illnesses or painful symptoms are using cannabis to alleviate their symptoms, such as MS, cancer and epilepsy. And 4 people in Labour, Plaid Cymmru and the Conservatives are all trying to bring this to the attention of the Welsh Assembly to allow for medical prescriptions of the drug. After all CBD is proven to create an equilibrium in our endocrine systems allowing our bodies to maintain themselves, and can also make the gene responsible for the spread of breast cancer redundant. And THC can reduce internal inflammation and provide aid to those with sleeping and eating disorders.
These are just some minute examples of cannabises utility, there are a lot more that extend even as far as the industrial sector. But in spite of the many great minds coming together to emancipate cannabis from this societal prison, the Home Office refuses to acknowledge the truth and still states that "there are scientific indicators telling us cannabis is unsafe". Luckily some of Wales' most forward thinking politicians are trying to change the stance that our country has held in this matter for too long. Today they are expected to be meeting with Ministers in Cardiff to discuss the possibility of legalizing the substance medicinally, a move beneficial to those in need of it and for the economy as well.
I think that this is a good move for our society, as it provides people with an alternative source of medication that isn't engineered and produced in a factory. There are many people out there suffering who use cannabis sourced illegally risking prosecution that require the assistance it brings them daily. So who are we to deny someone what they choose is best for them? Hopefully our government will wake up a bit to what these four AM's have to say today, and we might begin seeing some positive change in the public eye on this perspective. Do you think this a good move for Wales and Britain, let me know if you think that doing this will help people or cause more damage.
I have been calling for Hemp and Weed so to speak to be legal in Wales for a long time with the Green Party. Our farmers need an additional income and we could use so much in the form of hemp plastic.
Great Article- Hopefully it will get passed and can really start helping people who suffer
It is also 100% Legal to grow CBD plants in the UK with a licence and a set of certain seeds from the EU

I've heard that too about the seeds, but it would make a massive impact on our agricultural and medical sectors if we were to legalize. The financial, societal and health benefits are undeniable now more than ever, thank you for your feedback :)
