Walk With Me at the Manasquan Reservoir

in walkwithme •  7 years ago  (edited)
Some late afternoon moments on a windy Sunday with temps in the low 40s ℉.
And there were some promising signs that we'll soon be headed for warmer Spring weather!
The sunset wasn't spectacular, but it was still worth watching.

UPDATE: Since a few curators asked about the building in this post, I thought I'd let you know that it's the Manasquan Reservoir Visitor Center. It's a cool two-story building with a fishing/bait/canoe/kayak shop on the first floor and a great view of the reservoir from the heavily-windowed second floor.

Stellar photos there.....and the sunset is lovely....I love the rays on the last photo and the light on the wooded areas. Nice restaurant .... did you have dinner there?

Thanks @countrygirl. No I didn't have dinner there, it's the visitor's center. However, they do have a little alcove with a few vending machines, and they also sell bait on the first floor. But nothing on that menu was appealing to me ;-)

No I wouldn't think bait would be very tasty or satisfying. Nice visitor's center.

Holy crap that is exactly the place that I want to live. Not in Jersey necessarily but that little manor house on the lake. What an incredible view. Not only the outside but the inside as well.

I think the only way you could get to live there (well, part time, anyways) is to apply to become a park ranger. It's the Manasquan River visitor's center. But it is definitely a cool building with amazing views of the reservoir and the bald eagles that are there year round.

Got to say that water looks mighty cold! At least is not frozen!

It was partially frozen back when we had the deep freeze that lasted several weeks.

It looks like a wonderful place to enjoy nature. Love the 2nd photo of the wood.

Reservoir looks pretty big. Will check it out on google maps.

Great Images.....Those views are beautiful!
Looks like great windows to sit by and relax.

I was feeling a bit stressed today and your photos were totally relaxing. Thanks for reminding me what matters... Re-steem for sure!

My pleasure!!!

Amazing naturalize photography taken @cognoscere. I like these ocean captures.

Thanks!!! But, sorry it's not the ocean. It's a fresh-water reservoir the provides drinking water for a portion of Monmouth County, New Jersey. It's 40-feet deep at the deepest parts, can hold up to 4 billion gallons of water, and the path around the reservoir is about 5 miles. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manasquan_Reservoir

The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring. You creatively capture that's beauty of spring.

Amazing waves styles you catch from your walking. Beautiful nature given nice reflection to the water.

Great photos. Here in Minnesota, we are weeks away from open water and Spring in general. NJ is coming along nicely.
