Walk with me in Rila Mountains

in walkwithme •  7 years ago

When I began to write this post, I checked the time - it was exactly 22:22, I thought it should become a good one. But then I started to look through the photos and I realized that except these amazing photos, I don’t have much to share about this trek, except some technical descriptions or bla bla, beautiful, gorgeous, magical..as always. Maybe it is better to spare you most of that. Actually these photos can tell you smarter things than these that I could write. Look carefully :)

The best way to « consume » nature’s power is in silence. These shots, captured with a smartphone (as usual), are from places that can literally make you speechless 😶. Checked ☑️.

I took them while trekking to two spectacular lakes in Rila Mountains, Bulgaria - « Страшното езеро » (The scary lake). And « Йончево езеро » (Yonchevo lake) .

It was a long circular trek that started initially through a forest, continue through fog and the culmination was amongst the clouds.
The final part was dark, rainy, through an endless pinus mugos (dwarf pine).

And The Scary Lake. It is named like this because of the super strong echo around it, which makes even more thunderous the sounds during a thunderstorm and the creepy fog that can be seen often there, and also the strange rocks around it.

Except these two, here is another one :) Glacier lakes everywhere in Rila Mountains! This is a smaller unknown « bonus » lake.

Luckily it started raining exactly when we were going through the pinus migus and there weren’t any more great views around.

Sometimes words are not necessary. Still, you managed to put a few in there. :)

That looks like a great trip. The silence is one of the best things about being out in nature like that. It allows you to clear your head and think properly. Maybe it's the air too.

How long was the hike? It looks like you went through quite a few zones.

I’ve noticed that my head usually becomes clear when I start to come down :) Clear mind should be earned with the hiking upwards. This hike was around 6-7 hour, relatively long one. Thank you for your comment
