Walk With Me on a Glisan Street "Art" Walk

in walkwithme •  7 years ago

I've noticed a lot more graffiti in my area so I decided go out and hunt some down on Glisan St.

It was wet and drizzly as I started out. The first part of getting to Glisan is crossing the tracks. Now i'm not sure if I'm on the right or the wrong side.

With the amount of street art popping up, I'm sure many would say it's the wrong side. I kinda think some of it is pretty cool though.

Here were some of my first animal encounters.

After getting to Glisan it was time for the uphill walk towards 82nd ave. Still drizzlin.

Two of my favorite stickers along the way.

Near the top of the hill is this awesome gate next to the marijuana dispensary.

Not all of the art was graffiti. A few shops had some interesting window installations.

There were also some portraits.

I'm not a big fan of tagging. I would much rather see some crazy art involved. If you are going to mark up a building then you should go big.
While these guys are trying, They should switch it up a bit and get creative. It looks like they all went to the same spray paint school. Or maybe it is all the same person.

Now that is what I'm talking about!

Now it is time to turn around and head home. While walking, I noticed two new places on this street I had never seen before.

A Vietnamese Pool HallA saddlery? WTF?!

And then the heavens opened and the sun shone down a ray of light that illuminated something I had never seen here before...hidden away. It was the House of Bahn Mi. I was so excited that I forgot to take a picture of the place. Just a mile from my place was a bahn mi shop! And here I was driving across town like a sucker!

Not bad for $7

I will say that out of all the graffiti I saw, only one was painted on an inhabited building. Everything else was on empty buildings. Even the wolf mural. So at least they are being somewhat respectful??
Thanks for walking with me and as always...

Wow, some really great works there Dr!! Thanks for showing us, I love graffiti!!! This one was so brilliant:

I hope it wakes a lot of people up!

YES for sure! Glad you liked it.
On steemit, you are still the product but also the CEO. :)

I really like the little iconic animal ones. The dispensary gate is pretty sweet too.

Ya you don't really realize how many little stickers are placed everywhere until you are looking for them.

House of bahn mi ... what a find!

Yes indeed! It was delicious :)

I love that kind of graffiti.. especially the wolf.. that's bad ass..

It's weird because the whole lower part of the building is empty. So I don't know who commissioned the piece. Looks pretty sweet though.

Cool photos, and I have to agree... the wolves mural is way cool! Interesting post my friend, thanks for the share of your walk about town. :-) Have a great night. Oh, and the Einstein was cool too BTW.

Cheers! Happy Saturday night :)

They are wonderful art works

Some are cool. I wouldn't say all are wonderful. :)
