Had to Strap On the Knee High Rain Boots Today

One thing I learned when we first moved to Nova Scotia is that you need several different pairs of rain boots. Your winter ones (with warm fuzzy insides), your fall and summer ones, your knee high ones, and of course your dress ones lol, seriously, I've seen them though I don't have a pair. #LifeGoals though...

My Feature Film of the Day

In typical Lyndsay fashion, shaking camera, over exaggerating everything. Welcome to the great deluge of 2018.

#WalkWithMe

These photos are from my walk yesterday, obviously today was a little too torrential to be out. I saw a lot of beauty and got shots of some beautiful birds!

IMG_6318.JPG

I believe this is a male Belted Kingfisher. It's the first time I've ever seen one of these guys, I know they are quite common in Canada, yet until yesterday I hadn't been lucky enough to spy one. Cute mohawk hey?? D'awwww...

Spring is Trying :)

Gull Cuddle Puddle

They sure don't have much space on Cuddle Island at high tide, but they're giving it their best effort and that's what counts.

A Loon

I'm still not sure what those little ducks (above) are they look black, white and blue, and are fairly small.

Canada Geese

IMG_6326.JPG

I saw a pair of them searching around for food along the water line.

Blended in really well there!

Lastly, The Cutest Duck Ever...

Just swimming around in a ditch.

Now posing handsomely for some glamour shots, and in the photo below was fluffing out his neck feathers.

Nice boots! lol

I ❤️ Canada Geese

Why thank you good Ser :)

Great pics.. love the reflection pic with the Canadian flag

Great photography mam.... miss your chickens 😁

I need a pair of rubber boots like that. That is a lot of water in the basement.

Yeah the next best thing would be some hip waders... #lifegoals.

It is so soul soothing to see these sights and hear these sounds of spring Lyndsey! Mmmmmm! Thank-you so much for sharing so much awesomeness. The sound of the water!!!!! The amazing birds 😍🙏 and dandelion 😲 can't wait 🎆 Hello Spring!!!!!! Nice boots 😉 glad nothing is wrecked in your bsmt. I hope to God you don't get electrocuted in your bsmt!!!

Heheheheee!!! Love your attitude, the sound of the water LOLOL!! :) :) Yeah plugging in the pump is always a little sketchy lmao, I always say my final goodbyes before I do that :) :) :) Nothing is wrecked, everything is up on tables for the most part. Hello Spring indeed :) <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Much Love Jill!! xoxoxo

@kyndsaybowes, Omg... so powerful boots you wear today. It's your fashion I've seen. Little canal see from basement. Nice spring shot and close one of cure bird.
Canada geese so awesome and cute duck swimming around ditch.

I'm glad you liked the animals, and my wonderful sense of fashion haha :) Great to see you today @madushanka!

Your basement is flooded and you're laughing and staying positive! I need that to rub on to me lol. I hope all that is taken care of soon! Most geese and duck travel in packs over here it's strange to see them solo.

Oh yeah, because I was so surprised all I could do was laugh at myself as I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to set up the hose and pump lololol!! I can't believe how much water got in before it dawned on me to go look lmao!!

That little duck looked pretty happy to be on his own though hey?

Hi,
So finally the sign of spring life for you with the 1st yellow flower. what kind of flower is it?

Hello @hanamana, the flower is a type of dandelion I believe <3 <3 Nice to see you today!

I thought looked like dedelion but looks bigger than ones around here. I eat the flower and the green part too...good for your health.

I found you some dress wellies!

...Also, I can't wait until y'all have your own DRY homestead with no flooding basement! I'm glad it didn't ruin anything at least. That pump is so loud!!

Omg those are soooooo cute!!!!! Awwwwww!!!! Chickees!! <3 <3 <3 Yeah we keep everything up on tables down there, the flooding is expected, though it usually happens in the winter, that's why I got caught off guard yesterday. Definitely holding the vision of a nice dry place...up on a really big hill LOL!!

I am holding that vision with you!!

Should I be concerned that you are getting Parkinson's or something hahaha I felt kind of nauseous by the end of the video :)

Water in the basement is the worst! Such a mess to clean up, and always a joy to have the litter box in the kitchen ;)

The birds are so cute...love the Kingfisher and the duck's colors at the end are beautiful. Nice to see Spring trying to peak through, but it's pretty hard to imagine with the deluge you're getting there now!

Hope you got to your book tonight at least!

I'm sorry to have shaken you up so much hehehe!!

The best part was watching the cat try to go down to the basement, one paw in and she skittered back upstairs so fast she almost bailed lmao!

hahaha cats are so damn dramatic too :)

Wow .... Aw aw...
Looks like you look more cool using that shiny boots .. hhhhh
Almost like angelina jolie ,,
I like it <3

Thanks for visiting LidiaSteem, love you SiSTAR!!

It snowed here in Edmonton yesterday.

Yuck.

The snow melted today.

Win.

The temperature will be in the teens on the weekend!

Win! Time to BBQ!

That is definitely cause for a celebration!! I'm happy for you all Shaun!

The boots are beautiful ma. So sorry about your basement and glad it was some kind of diversion for you. You laugh over everything, do you ever get sad? The ducks are beautiful, so so.

Ooh yes, I sure do get sad, that is why I laugh so much xo :)

You have a ready made basement pond for some cute pet ducks. :-)

That's the best idea I've ever heard, I'll leave a little bread trail to our basement window and hope they jump right in lolololol!!

Man it feels classy to upvote with such style. You will never get your knickers in a knot with boots that high. The little tiny river by the side of our house has turned into a real stream. If it keeps raining it may just reach the deck by the guest room. The 333 was flooded like crazy in so many spots. So much water. The post office in Tantallon has crocuses blooming. I love those ducks..How very beautiful are they. Wow. and that kingfisher..real wow. I must get my act together again ..I really love making it to your cosmopolitan page on walkwithme folks. xx much love

Awwww...I would love to see some crocuses hahha, I'll have to drop by the post office lol. It was a really lucky day for birds indeed <3 <3 Looking forward to seeing your next adventure :) :) :)

If it ever stops raining..I might get out there. I wanted to plant some but thought the deer might eat them. I will try next year. We just watched that video and the first thing Craig said is ...why is that pump making that noise? Shit that is a lot of water. Wow. ya the birds rock.

The pump was slurping LOL!!

right on. nature is telling us something. build an ark with all the wood that fell. take them animals two by two. I got a cat

Nice to see some flowers!

It's strange - I just saw in my journal that on this day last year the Forsythia bush was in full bloom, and I even mowed the lawn! This year, it still feels like winter. But with all this rain I'm sure we'll have hay-fields the minute the sun comes out.

That's a pretty drastic change from year to year!!

So sorry your basement flooded. At least you didn't lose anything. When I lived in Canada we lived on a large farm. One year they were supposed to be putting in a new tile bed. Well, they did alright and connected to the tile that was draining waster away from our house. We didn't notice until we had a particularly violent thunderstorm. It was during the night and we woke up to the dogs whimpering at the stairs. When we looked, the basement was indeed a swimming pool right up to the floor rafters! About 7 feet worth! Time for the irrigation pump (4 inch intake) I don't know how long we pumped but we couldn't stop until it stopped raining. We lost the furnace, water heater, pump for our well, washer, dryer and deep freeze. Needless to say we were not happy campers...

Wowwwww...that story makes our flood a f'ing joke!! To the roof rafters, holy crap...I imagine much longer and it would have started filling up the main floor?

Then we would have been up the creek without a paddle...

OH heavens, well at least you have your wellies on! Right ;)

We have such sandy soil here at Toad Hall that we only get random flooding around the property. Of course we don't have a traditional basement here, just an old New England cellar with stone walls and dirt floor and bits and bobs popped in to keep the ole' place running, i.e. water heater, pump, boiler etc. If it did flood, it'd just soak into the dirt/sand floor. The mechanics of the house live on cement bases.

Boy did we have a storm yesterday though. I took a video but it never looks as dramatic as it actually looks IRL. I might get @winstonalden to put it on youtube, the waves were huge and there was 6 foot sprays on the rocks out front. It felt like someone was just pouring buckets of water down the windows.

Spring has 'sprung', quite literally!

Oooh wow, I hope you get it on youtube, I'd love to see those waves, and I totally know what you mean about it being less dramatic on video than in real life, I can imagine though!!

excellent photography @lyndsaybowes

IMG_20180418_230645_036.jpg

do not @lyndsaybowes ??? we were afraid of being kicked boots. Hehehe

wow I remember just a few weeks ago when that view was a varitable frozen tundra! times they are a changin- little by little spring is coming THANK GOD-
sure the feathered friends are happy about it too
