~ 68 ~ Walk With Me Before Another Possible Power Outage

We're having a massive storm in Nova Scotia...

A storm surge warning, and a snowfall warning, but right now it's raining and windy. Winds were supposed to reach 100 km/hour, but it looks like that warning is gone now, thank goodness! I'm writing this post hastily to try and beat the power outage. We have a bunch of water stored up unlike last time, and the bathtub is full too, so we can use that water to flush our toilet with if we have to.

@Hendrix22 is already on his way home for work, and school was cancelled for the boys for the rest of the week. So, they were back to school from Christmas holidays for exactly 1 day. HAHAA!! I love NS winters!! The kids are always home most of February, looks like we're starting early this year!

Yesterday

The morning ice was shining like diamonds...

I heard a knock on my door...

It was this gentleman. He stopped by to ask if he could go around and collect chicken feathers to use for his arrows that he makes. He says chicken are the best, he tried crow feathers and they didn't work well. So I took a couple creepy photos of him from inside the house.

The chickens wondering what the heck was going on with that dude taking all of their feathers...

Puddle Barometer at 1:00 pm. It's pouring out! And all of this rain is going to freeze and then the heavy snow will start falling. It's going to be really really icy...I hope everyone stays safe!

Ugh not another power outage.

Stay safe -- and we'll be sharing an approximation of the same bad weather for about three days! I think I'll do a walkthrough, I won't have my pc with me and won't have a chance to be online as much.

We can see the ocean from our backyard, yep! The wind is really going crazy now, and the boys sure are glad to be home <3 <3 I'm happy they are here too, less to worry about!

Hey you guys stay safe/warm out there. When I was a child they were closing the school often due to snowstorm/ice and that was just the best feeling ever. You had to listen to the radio (yes I am that old) and you were hoping they name your school (in there list of closed school) ...please name my school. and then YES!!!!!

It's nice to be able to take it so easy, in other cities we have lived in, the show goes on, no matter how bad the weather is, the stores are still open and the schools most of the time too.

We had a power outage last night, the coldest so far this winter, when everybody was using electricity to heat up their house. Fortunately, the electricity came back after a few hours.

By the way, beautiful diamond rain! Stay safe in the storm! We'll be thinking about you guys.

Ok, so many things to comment on this post :) FIrst off, I feel your pain, we too got our posts out as fast as we could because we are assuming we will lose power. Down here we hear all sorts of warning. This morning our garage was FLOODED so we had to prop up the generator. I think Nate did a post about it. Now it has turned to snow. There is so much water by my chickens and where I just moved my quail, my wellies were wet past the ankle! Now, chicken feathers for arrows are the best! I just got a brand new recurve bow for Christmas and want to make my own arrows. To know I can use my darling chicken's own feathers. That is wonderful news. Well I have left long enough message now, stay safe warm and dry and we shall try to do the same. Oh Fickle Mother Nature, what are you playing at!

Chicken feathers make good arrows. Wow, that is news to me. I make my own arrows with birch dowels, but I never figured how to put the feathers on so I don't put any feathers on. They shoot well if at short distance, like 10 to 15 feet away. Good for protecting the house, maybe. Well, I did find some bluebird feathers on my lawn sometime back. Maybe I'll just Youtube it on how to attach feathers.

What's the current temperature of there? Snowfall and storm warning, I think there's situation so hard. Take care of yourself. Stay safe. I think storm was come before some days there and again there is warning to stay safe.

I spent New Years in Nova Scotia years back. I remember the "underground city "and walking underground to get from pub to pub. in Halifax. Fun time, but very chilly !

We had an early snow, mid October this year, and tonight it's going down to -42 c with the windchill, we have been in a deep freeze. I would rather be where you are than the constant deep freeze. Glad all is good with you all. I was shocked there was no snow yet, I watch Atlantic CTV news everyday.

I've been in NS and NL for about 6 years now and I always get so excited about the way these storms get beefed up, but I'm always disappointed in the actual storms. I'm originally from Muskoka Ontario and when people here chuckle and ask "How are you liking our winters? Heh heh heh!" I tell them "I don't. They're lame and there's never any decent snow" lol

Mam, as I know the temperature of Nova Scotia is in minus. And Canadian official website is warning. I can't say certainly that there's temperature will increase but I can wish that there's weather will soon warm and temperature will go in plus. And all the Canadians will take a good breathe. Storm and snowfall warning is giving you the sign to live carefully. Guys please take care yourself.

Odd to see a blast of hot air coming up from Alaska that pushed down the artic air over the upper hemisphere.... (weather mod?) That gave us extreme cold... but of course theres this boosted system right before the cold is set to come back.

As long as it's not too bad (like a hurricane or something) am I alone in thinking that there is something exciting about an impending storm? Perhaps I'm just a bit weird like that lol .. but I love being out hiking in wild weather, it makes me feel so alive. We have it on oil heat. The power is back on down there but we're still hanging out at B's parent's house just incase more craziness happens. We're getting -30 tomorrow!

And a great experssion it was!

My favourite part is when a comet landed nearby and melted all the ice within a 10 km radius. Then the dinosaurs came back, but they could only walk backwards and burp instead of roar.

My favourite part is when some kind of submarine surfaced from the ice and @lyndsaybowes pelted it in the head with a barrel of frozen eggs until it begrudgingly retreated back into the slushy depths.

The sign does not know me and I do not know you, maybe you are bothered using your tags but please forgive me I am a volunteer worker in a community health center and not with a decent salary you can imagine for 7 years working in a community.
