Walk With Me... In and Out of Clouds!

in walkwithme •  7 years ago  (edited)

Have you ever shoveled chicken poop in the middle of a snow cloud? If not, then that's great!

It doesn't sound that fun, and the task itself really isn't, but mounds of chicken poop shouldn't take away from the beauty around you.

So I invite you to join me on a misty, warm and sunny walk through mountaintop clouds.... and chicken poop.... but maybe more beauty and less chicken poop because melty chicken coops are not particularly photographic-able.

Of course, everyday starts out with a pretty fire, I used the technique I learned on here by uh.... someone... haha my memory for that stuff is terrible, but it was on Steemit I learnt this stellar fire starting technique, it lit it up so fast and efficiently!

I had to come outside because the sun was shining so brightly! It made me pretty cheerful and I couldn't resist the suns happy rays. I made sure the chickens had some sun time too and gave them some scratching seeds to enjoy, happy fluffy chicken butts!

It was beautiful and sunny out, and then all of a sudden, we were in a cloud! It seemed to be sleeting, or rain/snowing, and then it turned into big fluffy flakes and I took a break for some tea. @offgridninja was busy plowing the road with my dad, if you wanna check that out, its pretty uh exciting *cough.*

The grey rooster, who I am considering naming Stormy due to his personality (he is top cock), was not impressed by the dissapearing sun and decided to let us all know!

Poor Raishu is not top cock, and is never allowed too close to the snacks or the hens. I make sure he gets some though, I like to root for the underdog/underchicken.

The misty scenery was so beautiful I couldn't not take pictures, and I needed a breather!Everything is melting and the icicles are about to fall down, its really weird, it went from freezing cold to warm and melty in a couple of days. It nearly feels like spring, but it isnt even close yet, or is it? I can hope, I can dream!

I got some pictures of the cloudy mist well it was leaving, seeming to slide away down the mountain. The little shack you see here is the house of our well!

The sun came back! Time to get to work, since although its sunny the sun would dissapear in only a couple hours, and there was a lot to do.

I am very lucky I found this wheelbarrow, the only ones I knew of were at my garden across a feild of snow. Mel tipped me off that this was here, and the path was somewhat shovelled. Neither was the wheelbarrow too deep, thanks to the melting snow. I eventually got it out!

The rest of the story involves melty, stinky poo and heave ho. When I was nearly donescraping some droppings off of their perch, the stormy rooster got up into my face well I was cleaning and started caw cawing at me, running around like a mad cock, acting like I was a predator. I guess the rooster felt I was incurring on his territory, I assured him I would eat him if he pecked at me. At least I know he will be a good guard cock.

I don't think him or the hens understood what I was doing, every time I would go inside or something they would all be chilling back in their house and sort of unwilling to leave. I don't feel bad for kicking them out cause it has been such fair weather haha, they need some exercise!

After the task was done and the sun was setting I came inside for some tea. @offgridninja made this incredible hot chocolate dubbed 'death chocolate' that was totally gourmet and picturesque. It included cookie crumbs, coconut, dark chocolate, salted caramel hot chocolate (from bulkbarn and funded by Steem!) and spooky sprinkles! It was literally like liquefied cookies, soooo delicious!

That basically ended our day, I hope you enjoyed this walk with me and peak into our cute little community and daily chores. You also got to experience being in a cloud with us up here on the mountaintop, something that happens pretty awesome. I sure hope more sun comes our way though! I hope spring comes early!

Thanks for tuning in Steemit friends, and Keep on Steeming on!

Nice fire starting technique! I think I might know the guy you learned that from @jonpetrich ;)

Here is a link to is in case anyone wants to give it a try - Tried and True Fire-starting Technique - The Herringbone

ahh yea, it is you! I was hoping you would see this, cuz I was not ambitious enough to scroll through old replies to find you last night haha. It works wonders, as long as you have enough space underneath. The ash is piling up in mine and it was a little difficult, but I think I simply need to master the technique. The first time I tried it, everything lit up right away!

Thank you!

That was a good walk. Your chickens look happy. Thanks for taking us with you!

I must visit as soon as I have the means!! I miss your lil chickens and all of you at Cedarville!!! AND THAT DRINK LOOKS SO FUN~

Fancy drinkmaster indeed! Lovely misty photos

I enjoyed walking with you because at the end of the whole thing there is hot tea to calm the nerve

yes hot beverages are key after a hard day of work in the snow haha

D'awwwww....Happy little Fluffy Butts <3 <3 They deserve a nice warm day and so do you. I don't think spring is coming just yet but here's to hoping! AHHAHAA :) Beautiful captures of the mist too. Thanks for this #walkwithme.

Its back to cold and dreary and lots of snow again today, it was like a mini spring haha. I only realize how Canadian I am when I think that it was warm out and spring like in january lol. I can hope, I can plan.
