The past days i was noticing more and more people who are using the wallet history wall for promoting their own content. Usually this is not a bad idea, but ...
If people are using it to promote their own content , then really urgent cases are getting missed in the ocean of spam comments. If you want to promote your articles, you have other opportunities.

- Send your article to your email list.

If you want people to find and read your content you need to promote it but do it the right way. Publishing Steemit on other social medias is a great way to bring in more users and followers, i was brought here by a tweet and i fell in love with the concept. One of the above comments has made a right statement. There are other ways like ding and so on.
Maybe it would be a good idea, to make an introduction manual.
What I mean by this is, to gather all the main inoframtion about how to promote a post, and how steem works.
This manual would be avaliable on registration, somewhere on the users page (like a simple help - but more interactive)
This would solve 3 promblems.
1 - It would stop the enormous amount of posts about "how to transfer money from steem" "how to upvote" "how to drink coffee while on steem" and so on
2 - It would help to stop with the spam you are talking about
