Who do you know who actually supports starting wars in other countries?
Anyone?
This disconnect is just a glimpse at how messed up the political system is. They don’t represent you. They represent the military industrial complex and the global fiat banking system.
Opt out.
Use cryptocurrency and encourage friends who work in the military industrial complex to post on social media loudly about quitting their jobs because they no longer want to support killing people on the other side of the planet. The change starts with ourselves. It starts with people not enlisting for reasons Smedley Butler outlined in War is a Racket. It starts by using money which can’t be inflated and manipulated to fund wars. It starts by not “honoring the troops” in some fantasy constructed via propaganda but having real, genuine conversations with them about their truly honorable intentions and helping them heal the emotional trauma caused by the harm they are commanded to participate in.
War is not the solution.
We need wide-spread use of decentralized systems which incentivize moral cooperation so we can effectively support autonomy and freedom. Figure out what role you can play. Get educated. As for me, I’ve been working to promote cryptocurrencies, make them easier to use, and build tools for decentralized autonomous communities (DACs).

I try to post regularly on what the defense department spends per day. It's very illuminating to realize that one day it might spend $40 million just on fanny packs or fruit for the cafeterias... never mind the billions and trillions it's spending on weaponry. The same 20 companies show up over and over on these contract lists... Raytheon, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, etc., and their venn diagrams show why: they employ many former DoD personnel.

nothing much to add, I never got it and do not think I ever will.
Guess a lot of people just see the glory of the movies in Hollywood and believe that to be the reality
and off topic, are you sharing your views on HF21?

I feel like it's the same discussions we've had for over six months. I'll put a post together rehashing the same arguments again though if people really want to keep talking about the same things again. Essentially, the economics model is not that great, and we need more decentralized ways to pay for core development outside of just Steemit, inc. Will these changes (higher rewards for curation, change in the rewards curve from linear, separate downvote pool, fund used for development) help? Maybe. Maybe not. I think doing nothing will give us the same results we've been getting, so I'm all for trying something different. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity, so changes are a good way to get new information.
It still may not help though.
One thing I did advocate for among witnesses regarding the changes coming was to start with a smaller amount to fund the pool (7% instead of 10%). I don't know if a change that small is worth not pushing forward the HF though. I'd also like to see witnesses take a cut and/or move more pay to backup witnesses.

I sadly know a lot of people that actively and openly support war. I've found it impossible to change her minds, so I ignore the topic and focus on the things that bring us together. Eventually the cognitive dissonance will melt. Until then, opting out of the divisive rhetoric and systems is the best option.

I'm curious what their reasoning is. Why do they support war?

Because skycloth says to. Or the orange fella.
And because they know they don't have to go.
