Wars and rumors of war have begun once again after a ceasefire broke down in 2010, between Myanmar's military and the Kachin ethnic minority. “I am convinced the Burmese government is trying to ethnically cleanse the Kachin people"", said Lashi Ókawn Ja, mother.

Last Year:
The marginalized people foraged for food in the forested rivers and hills and it's nothing unusual for them to use TNT explosives for dynamite fishing. Two ethnic minority village folk were found in possession of some fishing materials including TNT explosive, by the Burmese army. The duo was then strapped with a bomb on their bodies and detonated. The bodies were found abandoned by the roadside. According to the locals, the two village folk were returning home in the evening after having gone out for fishing in the morning.
Both hailed from Lam Braw Yang village. They have been identified as Hpau Kap Naw Let and Labang Naw Bawk. The incident occurred on 9th August, 2017.
