September 1938, still the pre build up of the war that would change the tide of the world forever.
The Munich agreement forced the Czechoslovak Republic (Now Czech Republic and Slovakia, previously Czechoslovakia) to cede the Sudetenland (including the key Czechoslovak military defense positions) to Nazi Germany.
One fun fact about this is that the Czechoslovak Republic was not permitted to attend the conference.
The reason for this was that Hitler made threats of waging war in Europe unless Germany received the Sudetenland, a border between Germany and the Czechoslovak Republic, which was populated in its majority by German ethnic and speaking people... eventually it was meant to happen, so GB, Italy, and France agreed to make this happen if it meant having peace in Europe, not thinking that this was just a step in the ladder for Germany to later on wage the war they promised. As I mentioned, Czechoslovakia wasn't allowed to participate in said negotiations, but was forced to agree due to coercion and pressure from GB and France.
