Bible warning: Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice! Habakkuk 2:12

Habakkuk was a prophet who most likely wrote his book between the fall of the Assyrian empire and the rise of the Babylonian kingdom. The time in which Habakkuk lived was characterized by the oppression of great tyrants who asserted their military power over the weakest nations. The Northern Kingdom of Israel had fallen into the hands of Shalmaneser and its inhabitants were deported, and after, the Babylonians under the reign of Sennacherib threatened the Kingdom of Judah.
In a style similar to that of the book of Job, the prophet complained to his God about the injustices of the uncircumcised and the general oppression: "How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, ´Violence!´ but you do not save?" Habakkuk 1:2.
In one of his oracles, Habakkuk warned that tyrants who trust in riches and power are destined to fall: "Indeed wealth is treacherous; a proud man does not succeed" Habakkuk 2:5.
The Bible gives us a warning about this, by the eternal law of sowing and reaping, those who sow evil reap the same: "Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left will plunder you" Habakkuk 2:8.
And also those people who practice injustice are condemned, taught the prophet, the path of sin and error is a misfortune: "Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice!" Habakkuk 2:12.
The prophet as a spiritual sentinel sought to warn, correct and maintain hope, if men walk the path of error, the Lord's response is patience and the righteous man must persevere in their fidelity: "But the righteous person will live by his faithfulness" Habakkuk 2:4.
Because the Lord in his eternal and perfect providence has established an end to his plan of salvation; and this final, as anticipated by the prophet in his oracle, is the definitive establishment of the Kingdom of Heaven among men: "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea" Habakkuk 2:14.
