Congress Quietly Passed a Bill Allowing Warrantless Searches of Homes—Only 1% Opposed It

A major red flag was buried in the text of a bill with a seemingly harmless title.

A bill that will allow homes to be searched without a warrant was passed with overwhelming support by the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Trump—and it happened with no media coverage and very little fanfare.

On the surface, House Joint Resolution 76 looks harmless. The title of the bill claims that its purpose is “Granting the consent and approval of Congress for the Commonwealth of Virginia, the State of Maryland, and the District of Columbia to enter into a compact relating to the establishment of the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission.”

Getting a warrant has already been reduced to a just a routine.
We no longer have judges that are part of the community. That know anybody. So, almost all warrants are just rubber stamped.

This will just end up with more people understanding that they really have no rights in the "land of the free".

And then, police officers will realize that they need to walk up to the front door, with their hats in their hands, or their will be no more police officers.

you should go read the actual statute in question

Oh, I did.
And, it means any apartment complex that is next to the train tracks.
Or any storage facility, or factory, or commercial building.

And the right of ways are not as small as one would think.
In some places it includes the entire town.

it's not really any different from how the gas company can come on your property to inspect the gas meter and appliances in your house if they send you a notice, if you are adjacent to the railroad and they need to go through the parking lot of your apartment complex or sample the soil to check for pollution or do whatever it is they need to do you will get a notice, move your pot plants or whatever.

I have a manhole in the middle of my driveway, occasionally a man will want to go down that hole, they have a right to do that without it being trespassing. I knew the manhole was here when I bought the place like anyone who lives next to the railroad knows it.

Good time not to be in the united states.

Also, check my latest blog post for similar reasons.

I think anyone claiming that the usa is not a totalitarian system is going to have a hard time making that case now.

If the constitution is no longer in effect, then every soldier in the country should be revolting or is a traitor.

Am I wrong? If the constitution declares a right to privacy and there is none given, then how is the constitution in effect? Someone tell me I'm wrong.

If your property is adjacent to the railway and the railroad workers need to walk around on it as part of their job if they send you a notice they can walk around there and it is not trespassing, like a lot of other inspectors. On the other hand in most if not all states fish and game officers can trespass on your property whenever the want without giving you notice in the course of their job.

This was very alarming until I read the part I was supposed to be alarmed about.
“In performing its duties, the Commission, through its Board or designated employees or agents, may: Enter upon the WMATA Rail System and, upon reasonable notice and a finding by the chief executive officer that a need exists, upon any lands, waters, and premises adjacent to the WMATA Rail System, including, without limitation, property owned or occupied by the federal government, for the purpose of making inspections, investigations, examinations, and testing as the Commission may deem necessary to carry out the purposes of this MSC Compact, and such entry shall not be deemed a trespass.”

So the inspectors for the railway can walk around the areas adjacent to the railway in the course of their jobs, don't plant your weed next to the railway but don't worry too much because they have to give you notice.

Keep up the great work!

that is pathetic. they have already raped the warrant procedure down to calling a judge in the middle of the night just to have him respond " i am sleeping , just fuck over which ever peasant you like and leave me to my sleep" just sad
