The Phoenix Suns aren’t the type of team this season that particularly warrants the nation’s attention. Nevertheless, Suns shooting guard Devin Booker wants the NBA to schedule Phoenix to a Christmas Day game sometime in the future.
The NBA usually reserves Christmas Day games to either some of the top title contenders or big market teams, and the Suns neither in those two classifications.
This year, teams like the Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and the New York Knicks compose the entirety of the Christmas schedule.
Still, it would have been fun to watch a scorer of Devin Booker’s caliber playing on Christmas. Booker is one of the few players in the NBA today, whom you always have the inkling of being capable of dropping 60 points in a game. Just last March, Booker exploded for 70 points. Now, imagine Booker doing that on a Dec. 25 game.
We’re not sure about the Suns’ chances of playing next year on Christmas Day, but the Suns have Dec. 26 circled on their calendars, as that would be Booker’s first game back from a nine-game absence due to a groin injury.
So far this season, Devin Booker is averaging 24.3 points on 45.3 field goal shooting percentage.
