A BEUATY OF A WATCH. ALTERNATIVE TO NOMOS TANGENTE. RODINA REVIEW.

Nomos Tangente, has been on my dream list for a while. Being a watch enthusiast, the horological heritage of Nomos has always fascinated me. This watch is completely built in house. The 33 mm stainless steel back is about 1800 dollars and any improvements from there on such as a 38 mm size, exhibition back etc will cost you close to 2400 dollars.
In the watch community, the watch stands a colossal monument to the beauty of Bauhaus style. Perfectly proportioned, minimalist design is to die for. Again, it is 2400 dollars and the watch is well worth it but..........

I had just added to my collection. Here is the watch I bought.

I had just paid 7000 dollars for this watch. It is a famous, classic and rare watch in 24k Gold. So another 2400 on a watch is something that I would have to consider twice.
During my search, I came upon Rodina by Seagull. Seagull is a highly respected brand from China. It is not what most Chinese products are considered to be. Seagull is famous for its works of high quality and great durable movements. If you can get past what “made in China” means at Walmart, you will know that China is making some fantastic stuff, especially when companies like Seagull have internal quality controls second to none. Here is the watch I noticed.

Specs are as follows:

Movement: Sea-Gull Automatic ST1701. In house movement.
Case: Premium 316L Stainless Steel
Dimension: 39 x 9 mm , which I prefer over a 33 mm
Crystal: Sapphire!!!
Water Resistence: 5ATM!!
Genuine Leather Strap, quite thin. I would change it.

The markers seem to be printed but quite heavy printing is present. Flawlessly done.
Hand are not black but blued. Perfect play in light at various angles.
The second hand is housed at the 6 o’ clock position and resides at a lower level giving extra dimension to the face. The second hand face has concentric circles, again done flawlessly. The second hand moves very smoothly.
Changing time gives a good feeling when turning the crown. Movement feels solid.
The lugs are similar to Nomos. The case is highly polished. The overall presentation is very very elegant. It will look good even with a super expensive suit.
Overall, this watch is from Seagull, a well regarded company. They use their own movements. The particular movement here is known for its sturdiness. It is an automatic movement. I will be hard pressed to tell this watch apart from Nomos. It has a great feel and quality.
After reviewing it, I had to think long and hard why I should by Nomos. I made up my mind and received my Rodina today. I must say that this the cheapest watch in my collection but perhaps the one I prize the most. Bauhaus designs exude class and clarity. This watch is for a man whose intentions and actions have great beauty in their simplicity of execution.
Buy it, wear it, love it. Now for the price. This watch is 120 dollars. What is not to love. Buy it for yourself, your husband, your dad or your boyfriend. They will love it.
