I'm a bit of a wrist watch enthusiast, a finely made mechanical watch is one of the few items one can buy today that has a working lifespan of decades or even a century. With periodic maintenance, a quality mechanical watch can outlive most adults. They represent a pinnacle of human engineering and craftsmanship.
With that, there are certainly differences at varied price points. You can get a mechanical watch like a Seiko 5 for under $100, or you can spend a hundred grand on a top tier watch. Some of the price differences can be attributed to prestige and materials used, but most of that additional cost come from the high finishing of the parts.
This video does a great job explaining exactly what those differences are. Outside of a vehicle designed to travel into space, there are few other devices that are finished to such high tolerances. It really gives one an appreciation of what mankind is capable of creating. I hope you enjoy!
