Things To Know About The Volcano Bay
Orlando got a new, and perhaps one of its greatest till now, attraction recently. The Volcano Bay Recreational Park is now up and running at Orlando! The new water park at Universal Orlando is centred around the 200-feet tall volcano which sports the trademark Krakatau Aqua Coaster.
If you are one of the roller-coaster enthusiasts and want to know all about this new creation, read on to find 8 facts about the Volcano Bay Park you must know:
1. The Backdrop
Even though the park gives off a South Pacific feel, it isn’t based on any particular Polynesian culture after all. It is said to be the home of the Waturi Islanders – natives who sailed across the place in a search for a golden fish which could lead them to a homeland.
2. The Replacement
This new Volcano Bay park is a replacement to the previous Wet ‘n Wild amusement park, which was owned by Universal. The park was closed on International Drive on 31st December.
3. The Food
According to Universal, more than 60 delicacies are available for the food lovers visiting the park. To get an insight, a few dishes from the menu are: coconut-curry chicken, quinoa edamame burger, poke poke bowl, mango BBQ pulled pork sandwich, along with the regular chicken fingers.
4. The Techie-band
Continuing its list of innovations, Universal introduces the TapuTapu – A wearable bracelet that along with serving as the Volcano Bay Admission Pass, also serves as an alert for the visitors to tell them that their turn on the ride has come, also activating special effects in the park.
5. The Attractions
The announced attractions includes beaches, pools, toddler-playgrounds, along with rides such as a winding river and a racing river, multi-passenger rafting. The main rides are the Krakatau Aqua Coaster – propelling riders up into the volcano by using magnets, and the Ko’okiri Body Plunge – a drop through the volcano at 70-degree.
6. The Cost
Entry ticket to the Volcano Bay will cost $67. Combo deals are also available, as the trip to the recreational park can be combined with stays for multiple days at Universal’s other theme parks. The park will scheduled to open at 10 in the morning, while the closing time will vary after 5 P.M. depending upon the day.
7. The Incredible Parking Structure
Universal Orlando’s humongous parking structure is used by the visitors to the Volcano Bay for parking their cars, post which they are transported to the park. Universal Studios, Universal CityWalk, and the Islands of Adventure uses the same structure for parking. However, Valet and prime parking is also available for an increased cost.
8. The Souvenirs
The park offers a range of souvenirs, such as the key-rings, hats, and other tiki-themed merchandise such as tumblers. A kids line is also available, with features such as mermaids, T-shirts, and other water gears.
We don’t know about you, but we surely cannot wait to visit this incredible water park. Make sure you visit the park this holiday!

is this new construction, or have they simply renoveted and changed the name of Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach? I used to work at Epcot back in the mid/late 80's-early 90's and back then typhoon lagoon had just launched.. I imagine the 27k + acres of the WDW property is beginning to get a little crowded ...lol. It appears as if the imagineers are placing the water parks in close proximity to the resort clusters(i.e Typhoon Lagoon: Dixie Landings/Port orleans/Treehouse, Blizzard Beach: Swan/Dolphin/sports/music/music/caribbean beach, etc... where has this water park been placed on the property?
