Hello world

in water •  7 years ago

My name is Bill DeOreo, I am a water engineer from Boulder Colorado with an interest in water and energy issues. I believe that these are the key issues on which we should be focusing in the U.S. Energy is really the main driver here, because if we don't have ample supplies of clean and reliable energy you can forget having a reliable supply of fresh water.
I will be posting information and links on what I believe is the right way to go about meeting the water/energy system demands. (Let me give you a hint, it isn't windmills and solar panels.)

What I want to see is the re-development of a species of advanced nuclear reactors that use molten salt for cooling and dissolve the fuel right in the coolant solution. These reactors (MSRs) operate at high temperatures and low pressures and can use a wide range of nuclear fuels. With them we can have all of the carbon free electrical energy and industrial heat for doing things like water distillation and recycling that we need. Windmills, solar cells, batteries and microgrids will only get us into trouble. Please comment as you see fit.
