Would you like to learn watercolor?
I looove flowers. When I lived in Asia, I was buying flower for my apartment all the time. Adore the fresh look and smell of them in the room, and it feels even brighter when you walk in.
Once I got this cute little red flower (by the way does anyone know the name of it?) and decided to paint it in watercolor.
So if you would like to learn how to paint such a flower in watercolor step by step, here how to do that:
- Draw a light sketch (use soft pencil only). Apply first super light layer of yellow. We always start from the lightest layers and build up new layers from the lightest to the darkest
- Work on the middle part, let's call it "heart". Add orange and red paints on top of the first layer while it is wet
- Work on petals: apply first transparent layer on your petals, and while the layer is wet - add another (more concentrated) layer of pink (or red, or any color you work with)
- Build up all the petals one by one. Remember, the color closer to the heart would be darker and more concentrated. Deepen the heart of the flower by adding darker tones
- Paint a background in wet-on-wet: apply lots of water on paper, add blue using very wet brush and watch the paint flow. Control the direction with the brush
Aaaand here we are! Hope you liked it.
Feel free to ask me questions if you decide to paint this flower. I'm happy to give an advice!
Beautiful painting! Great job!
