In this post I will share pictures and information with you that will help you get a better idea of how we fit into the constant movement of water, and what impact do we have on this precious resource.
This movement of water is known as the Water Cycle.
Our participation in this never ending event,
and how we handle this huge responsibility,
will determine our fate.
our choice, the time to PAY the PIPER is not far off.
This is a picture demonstrating water's journey.
Our starting point will be where water is stored.
Water collects in Earth's vast network of oceans, massive lakes, and man made reservoirs.
Other places that store water could include ponds, swimming pools, and most anything that acts as a container for this precious liquid.
Despite the fact that 70% of the earth's surface is covered with water, so little is available for our use.
This pie graph gives you a very clear visual of how little water is available to mankind.
Evaporation is the vaporization of a liquid into the gaseous state. When water is heated by the sun, evaporation will occur, creating water vapor.
Whether water is heated by the sun or another source of heat, once hot enough the water will give off steam/water vapor.
Condensation is the process by which water vapor (gas) in the atmosphere turns into water (liquid state).
Condensation can occur very close to the ground also.
This form of condensation we call fog.
Condensation will in turn, cause clouds too form.
Clouds are the visible water and ice particles floating up in the sky.
As the water collects in the clouds, the clouds become heavy. Gravity causes the water droplets to fall as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
The type of precipitation that will fall to the earth's surface depends on the temperature of the the atmosphere where the clouds are forming.
Sleet
As the ground becomes saturated with water and can hold no additional water, surface runoff will occur.
This excess water is then carried by brooks, streams or larger rivers.
This water will replenish the containers where the water originated.
Nissan Stadium is located on the east bank of the Cumberland River.
As water makes this journey, we need to be responsible for its potability and the resources it provides for our very existence.
If we continue to abuse this resource, we can expect more of this!
Red Tide along much of Florida's West coast.
This condition is the worse it has been in years.
Scientists believe that pollution from human sewage, agricultural runoff, contributes to red tides, along with rising ocean temperatures.

Garbage dumped in our oceans brought back to our shorelines by ocean currents.
Toxic waste from industry being discarded.
Toxic fumes from factories not only pollute our air, but our water as well. These toxic particles are brought back down to the surface of earth when it rains, and then are carried to all bodies of water by surface runoff.
Oil spills and other accidents that happen while harvesting and transporting oil.
Where are we headed, do you care, can this trend be reversed, or is it too late already.

This is a problem that will only become bigger, unless all of mankind becomes active in halting this destruction. Here are a couple of links that you may find helpful in answering the question, WHAT CAN I DO.

I hope you found this content informative and has motivated you to become active in halting this destruction.

Super important article. You really make it clear just how serious this problem is. Unfortunately, it seems like here in the US we are headed full speed in the wrong direction on these issues. Thankfully some other countries are really taking on the problem. But it is still the case that in many part of the world industry is being allowed to pollute because money is being prioritized above life.

For being such a wealthy country, we sure don't put the money where we should.
Money is always the central issue.
Thanks for the compliment.

It is really a shame that we are aware of the small percentage of water on earth that is portable yet we are doing our best to pollute it by all course. I wonder what will happen when all the portable water gets polluted.

Howdy sir bigsweed! Hey what a great tutorial on the water situation and its also a good teaching tool for the basics of how it all works. I have no idea what we're doing in this country or how we're doing, do you? I assume it's not enough? Man you got some great pictures on this one! lol. good job!

Thanks for the wonderful reply.
Presently, in this country we are going backwards. The Trump administration has rolled back pollution standards, and relaxed enforcement of laws protecting our water from those that continue to pollute.
Repeal of Obama CLEAN WATER RULE.
I like what the president is doing on many fronts, but strongly disagree with his lack of concern for our planet's well being.
As far as what we can do as concerned citizens, the first step in always the hardest, but once involved with any one of the great organizations out there, you just need to follow their lead.
One organization has a social media platform which has almost 800,000,000 people registered.
