Washington state’s most popular natural scenic attraction

On the 24th of July, 2012, during our Amtrak Coast Starlight vacation, my wife and I visited Snoqualmie Falls and stayed at the Salish Lodge. The two of us are Peak Freaks. Check out some of our photos!

Above, at a Salish Lodge vantage point, my wife views the Snoqualmie River upstream from the top of the falls.

Below, a view from the lodge grounds of the summer-flowered slope beside the falls, the cliff on the other side, and the river downstream.

Above, you can see some construction barriers and equipment. Parts of the park were closed when we visited.

Below, the falls created a gorgeous morning mist.

The sign above explains why parts of the park were closed. The hydroelectric generating station originally built here was one of the nation’s earliest.

Below, the parting of the falls into separate streams by rocky outcroppings at the brink adds dynamism to the scene.

More pictures of the place coming next Wednesday!

So beautiful ! I hope to one day be able to travel the world.

I'm glad you like the photos, Lauren. Best of luck in your travel ambitions! Amtrak, at least west of the Mississippi River, has the potential to give you truly fine travel experiences — if you plan properly, book a sleeper well in advance, always order the special in the dining car, and are willing to socialize with talkative strangers. Cheers!

Beautiful Place, hope to visit there... :-)

Thanks. I definitely recommend viewing the falls and exploring the park. Are you a Peak Freak? There are lots of settings and focal points from the show, especially the pilot episode, that you can visit nearby.

Plus, the Salish Lodge is a splendid place to stay, and their eateries are fabulous!

Thanks...

I loved the pictures, thanks for sharing them. I believe this post should be rewarded more that's why I will send you a @tuanis vote :)

Thanks — I appreciate that!
