Shore Bird

bird reflection.jpg

Few years ago, I visited my sister in California and all I wanted was to see the ocean. My sister accommodated my wish, and we visited three different areas. Not only I got to see the ocean, there were few places which had small tide pool where the bird enjoyed looking for food! I am not too sure about the identification of this bird, but there were many of them gathering by the waves. This particular one was in the small tide pool by himself.

Possibly a crane ?

I don't think so! Crane is much taller I believe :-)

A Marbled Godwit. A common migrant on most of the west U.S. coast. You can tell it's a godwit by the long bi-colored slightly upturned bill and that it's a Marbled Godwit (not the uncommon other possibilitlies Hudsonian Godwit or Bar-tailed Godwit by its overall warm brown coloration. If you can see the tail and wing it is even easier to ID to species, but godwits as a genus are easy by their large size and long two-toned bill. Nice photo. Thank you! I thought it was a Godwit, but not too sure which one this was..

Great +++++++

Thank you!!!
