What May Happen if the Moon Disappeared

Most of us only know about the moon as that satellite that gives light to our world

during the night period and help people in predicting seasons, periods and other religious festivals. We often take for granted the importance of the moon, never really worrying about our existence if this seemingly unimportant little satellite was to somehow disappear from our earth. However, what could happen to us if the moon disappeared? Can the moon ever go into extinction and on what circumstances can the moon cease to exist?

In scientific reasoning, the moon just like every other planetary bodies existing in the galaxy can cease to exist. However, the probable causes of moon extinction are either self explosion due to the increasing size of the sun which scientists have considered a threat to our planet existence or man made disasters; like detonation of atomic bomb on the moon since there is no treaty protecting the moon on our international laws. As at the moment, the moon is protected by our good conscience. Also, it is important to note that our earth existed once without the presence of the moon 4billion years ago, before the birth of man on earth.

1. THERE WILL BE MASSIVE TIDAL WAVES

Many persons may not realize this, but the moon's gravitational force pulls the earth's water masses towards itself creating a total balance in the ocean alongside the sun's gravitational pull. Therefore, if the moon was to disappear, this balance would be broken resulting in massive tidal waves which may cause a fatality surging above half of the whole earth's inhabitants since the USA, Europe, Africa, most parts of Asia and South America would have been greatly affected.

2.THERE MAY BE CLIMATIC SHIFT

If the moon disappeared, the earth may tilt further surpassing 45 degrees due to the absence of the gravitational pull of the moon. This may result in ice age, causing a total climate shift and the seasons may become absolutely unpredictable.

1. ASTEROID ATTACKS MAY OCCUR

The moon helps to maintain the magnetic forces and protective field preventing the earth from impact of asteroids and other foreign planetary bodies on the earth's atmosphere. This will become impossible with the disappearance of the moon allowing asteroids to attack our planet at will.

Without the moon, the natural cycles of aquatic life will get disrupted resulting in a dramatically affected food chain.

All the aforementioned effects of the moon's disappearance may cause a
drastic scarcity of food and other necessities which will result in struggles for the remnants left in the planet.

However, before arguing that non of these will occur, we must take steps to properly appreciate the existence of our world and also to properly create a better environment for all of us and for posterity.
