Other than the right knowledge and technique, you will need an assortment of accessories and supplies in your arsenal to prepare you for the job. The following are some of the critical tools you will need for the best waxing experience:

1.Right Wax For The Job

For hundreds, probably thousands of years, a mixture of resins, waxes and emollients were used in the removal of hair. This goes to show exactly how big a role wax plays in the depilation process. There exist two significant kinds of wax, namely; hard wax and soft wax each of which is effective for different hair removal needs.

Hard wax
Hard wax, is also commonly referred to as strapless wax. This is because unlike in soft wax, it does not require the use of is a removal strip. The wax is of a thicker consistency than soft wax and is applied in thicker layers. The wax is then allowed to set and harden fully before it is pulled off the skin, taking off the hairs with it. Because of its lower melting point and lack of a muslin strip, hard wax is considered the better option for more sensitive parts of the body such as the bikini area as it is less likely to irritate the skin.

Soft wax
Soft wax refers to the kind of wax most commonly used in body waxing. Due to its lighter consistency, it is applied over larger areas of the body with a spatula and then removed with a muslin strip after it has been allowed to set. Soft wax has a higher melting point, which is why it causes concern in some people about using it on delicate parts such as the bikini area. However, it is considered the better option for larger parts such as arms and legs and the back.

2.Wax Warmer

A wax heater is an invaluable accessory in an esthetician’s arsenal. The temperature and consistency of wax play a critical role in the overall waxing experience. Too high a temperature leads to the risk of burns, and the consistency of the wax determines its ability to grab onto the hair and pull it out. Investing in a wax warmer with temperature controls is one of the most prudent choices any esthetician or home enthusiast could ever make.

3.Roll-on Wax

Also known as cartridge wax, roll on wax refers to a waxing method where the wax is placed inside of a cartridge which is then heated and rolled over the desired area, spreading a thin and consistent layer of wax over the skin. The wax is removed with the use of a muslin strip just as in soft waxing. There is no wastage or spills, and no clean up involved afterwards because everything is contained within the cartridge.

4.Wax Strips

Wax strips are a critical part of waxing unless of course you are using hard wax which can be ripped directly from the skin with your bare hands. Wax strips are usually made from materials such as cotton or paper, both of which are flexible and will adhere well to the wax no matter the area of the body. There are also pre-waxed strips which do not require any heating or preparation. These are highly convenient and highly recommended for at-home enthusiasts and even salons. They are ready to use and eliminate the inconvenience of using hot wax.

5.Pre and Post Depilatories

In simple terms, these are the pre and post-wax lotions. It is crucial to prepare your skin before the waxing and take care of it after. Waxing takes a toll on the skin, but proper care will protect you from any harm and lessen the level of discomfort during and after the waxing. The pre and post-wax lotions will also make the effects of the waxing last longer.

Pre wax lotions help the wax adhere better to the hair while at the same time protecting you from side effects like ingrown hairs and bumps.

Post wax lotions, on the other hand, will help get rid of any residue while at the same time soothing and moisturising your skin. They also contain antiseptic ingredients which protect your skin from infections. Although waxing might seem like a daunting and painful experience, with a bit of preparation and the right accessories and supplies, you are guaranteed an excellent wax experience.
