The Dark Truths Hiding Behind The Glamour of Qatar’s 2022 Hosting WC

Global community has always been weak to oppose those with money and oil. Qatar is one of the richest countries as well as a country with major oil resources in the world which makes it hard to oppose it. There is also lot of controversy regarding their 2022 WC hosting issue and it is said that they bribed their way to win the 2022 World Cup Bid because of their huge fortune.
Most of Qatar’s laborers come from under-developed or developing countries with weak job prospects. They are risking their lives working in Qatar because their own countries have failed them. They can’t find any type of jobs in their own country. So in order to have something to fulfill the basic needs of their family, they lose their self-respect and endanger their lives. Rights group Amnesty International has accused Qatar of using forced labor at a flagship World Cup 2022 stadium. It has been said that more than 1000 workers have died.
Qatar needs to implement better labor laws. Laws that can make it unable to “own” a human being. It needs to provide protection to those who come from other countries for better opportunities. They are Qatar’s need. They don’t do any harm to Qatar. Qatar can only prosper more by benefiting them.
FIFA carries a large responsibility here. FIFA can contribute by ensuring that Qatar follows all human rights rules and regulations for laborers that are involved in WC preparations. Also making sure that the 2022 WC can be performed with arrangements done with respect to the region’s problems.
In order to punish the people who make a mockery of human rights violations with regards to laborers, strict laws should be taken so they can be punished. Sentences of time in jail, hefty fines and strict implementation of this can make everyone disciplined.
