WEAR ORANGE 2018

Gun violence has been an issue of great concern and heart wrenching incidence. It is always about taking the life of a young teen who has just started out his/her life or a Father who has a lovely wife and children who loves him. No matter how much excuse the killer has, the victim always has a lot to lose.

(June 1-3) is a time set across the United states to wear Orange Tees to show that there is much that can be done to end gun violence in the states. The movement is marked with various events like Marches, Picnics, rallies, BBQ and the likes. Over the weekend, various events to commemorate the movement has been put in place in various neighborhoods to reflect the mission. The nationwide campaign was started in 2015 by Everytown for Gun Safety, an NGO advocating for the end of gun violence.

WHY WEAR ORANGE?.
In 2013, Hadiya Pendleton a young girl that was a part of the inauguration parade for President Barack Obama was shot dead barely two weeks after the parade. She was shot dead in Chicago after writing her final exam and the culprit later confessed that the victim was not exactly his target but he mistook her for a member of a rival gang and she was just 17. Her family decided to wear orange to honour her hence the adoption of the Orange for the match. June 2 would have been Hadiya's birthday hence the adoption of the date to mark a revolution that would end her plight across the united states.

Like Hadiya, various other innocent people have been victims of the dangerous gun violence in the United States and next to nothing is being done to regulate the law of Guns. So many rallies have been done and still yet so many school kids have been shot down by their fellow kids all in the name of instability, depression and revenge.

In March 2018, a similar massive campaign was made against gun violence due to the Parkland school shooting with various celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Serena Gomez and a host of others supporting the movement. It was called March for Our Lives!.

Not ignoring the message of the movement, which says to end gun violence and to have a world free of it. We all rise together and work together to end this menace.

Shout out to Emma Gonzalez and other gun control advocates all over the world.

Our voices deserve to be heard.
Wear Orange 2018.
